yes you will, same when you change any app that uses notifications like that

Not necessarily! If you change the iCal.app icon, it will change back when you activate it, as it changes to the current date. (That is if you change the icon the regular way)

What Dock effect is that?

I have the dark dock - but just the plain one. I see yours goes light to dark then has a dark line at the top.

I believe that its called "Tinted Glass Shelf" in DockChanger and I used the "Give Me Pink" indicators.
