I had this happened to me just yesterday, couldn't wake her up!! I had to hold power button for it to wake up!! But it went to some loading sequence. Dont know! Hope it doesn't happen again.

I'm still debating whether to return mine, the not waking from sleep is still happening which is a pain but I'm also having a hard time with the machine hanging while using Vista 64.

I've tried changing the sleep mode as per some other threads but the fault is random.

Hope there is a fix posted soon.

Bluetooth mouse was my problem

I had this same problem and read in another forum about having peripherals attached when closing the lid and then those peripherals being disconnected before waking up. For me that was a bluetooth mouse. I turn off the mouse and wait for it to unpair from my system before I close the lid and I haven't had a problem since. I also had the problem when I had an external HD attached and then unattached it while the lid was closed. So I've been trying to make sure there are no peripherials attached when I close the lid and haven't had any problems since.... only about a week with no problem... but I was having an issue daily.

I have a late 2008 MBP (2.53 ghz, 250GB HDD, 4GB ram) that's been having this same problem. I'll stop using it at night and close the lid. When I open the lid in the morning, sometimes the screen stays black, though the sleep light is not fading in and out, indicating that the computer is not actually sleeping.

Multiple opens and closes of the lid, tapping space or trackpad, brief touches of power button, inserting a disc, none of these things will wake it and I have to power it down with the power button (losing my work state on anything I had open).

I'm getting exactly the same thing with mine. It has only happened twice in 2 weeks though which isn't too bad but having to turn it off and on again is a real pain! I'm hoping that this is a software problem and not a hardware one!

Same problem here aswell... I also noticed that when I move the MacBook Pro while it is in sleep mode I hear a clicking noise, its hard to describe what it sounds like but does anyone know what this could be?

I believe this issue is indeed related to Bluetooth and USB devices causing the computer to not enter sleep correctly and therefore failing to wake up properly; some recently leaked release notes for a pre-release build of Mac OS X 10.5.6 lists "Bluetooth and USB in closed lid mode compatibility fix", so maybe this will resolve this issue. :)

I have a slightly different sleep problem, when the lid is closed and then reopened, it seems to make all of my programs non-responsive on awakening.

Either nothing will work for a short period, or I will have to reboot to get everything working again. Anyone had anything similar?

I have this issue as well, I am using a blue tooth mouse and I will start turning it off before I shut it to see if that solves the problem.

slow 9400M graphics processors

Mine was extremely hot this morning as well, is this another issue all together? I had it siting on a cool pad so it was not sitting directly on the desk and there was room for heat to dissipate.

Is everyone else still having problems with this? It's getting really frustrating :(

Mine hasn't done it for at least a week now - I have been careful not to move it too violently for 30 seconds or so after I put it to sleep. Seems to have helped but I guess it could just be a co-incidence!

I'm posting this for interest's sake as as far as I can tell my particular sleep problem was related to moving my MacBook while it was going to sleep, ie writing the contents of the RAM to the HDD. This link http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html describes how to change your MacBook's behaviour when going to sleep, in particular, setting whether or not the entire RAM contents is written to the HDD. I have changed my setting following the instructions in the link so that the information remains on the RAM which supposedly speeds up the sleep time and presumably prevents the RAM contents being written to disk. I wonder if this may help those of us for whom the waking from sleep problem is related to this process being interrupted.
I must make it known that this is not something that I am an expert on nor do I know for certain that it will provide a fix and as such perhaps someone who is more informed on the subject could shed any light on my theory?
In any case, it has saved me 4GB of HDD space which is a nice benefit on its own!
