the OP is also someone who bought a brand new rmbp without knowing the specs ...

... Now, a few days after buying a 1.5k laptop he is trying to screw it open to put another ssd and ram in it ...

There is no telling if he really needs 16gb or what the hell he might be doing ...

Hey...Im here dude...now youre just being a tad rude Bud and not necessary...really?

1. I researched the specs big time....of course spending 1.5K I'm going to research.
2. I dont immediately need the additional RAM, but wanted to see what my options were.
3. Googling DID provide me with conflicting info hence coming here (wholly crap one simple query and jumped all over)..again really?
4. Havent used a Mac since my original Performa 1994...so new to to Mac, think I was clear on that.
5. I love Hardware...so again, looking at my options....I honestly didnt think in this day n age RAM Chips would be Hard Soldered to a Mobo...my bad.

Did I mention I was trying to open it up...?,,NO I didnt, I wanted to know if the RAM I posted was compatible nad if it was I would then open it up to replace.

I certainly wont be doing anything heavy on this Notebook...a little photo Editing, maybe some video encoding/decoding etc....I have my Watercooled 3930K Rig with SLi 780Ti's for that. This is my "portable" take on the ship (to work) and abroad Rig ;)

My latest "PC Build" 3930K running at 4.85 Ghz w 16GB Corsair running at 1890 Mhz....I'm just throwing this up here so its clear,,,Im a noob to Mac...not to HW ;)

Again...thanks to everyone for your replys....I have my answers now...go ahead and close it Moderators so I dont continue to get spoken of in a condescending manner.

I get your query. You need to relax a bit. No offence intended.
Enjoy your macbook :)

Btw: Google will also bring conflicting infomation about the geometric shape of planet earth.
Wikipedia proved to be reliable for me ;)

Really nice set up there man, I have a similar setup only I'm running a 4670k @ 4.6GHz with SLI 770's. That guy was being a straight up *A hole:rolleyes:, you will get people like that on these forums here and there, but there are also a lot of other helpful people on the forums too, so don't let him turn you off of these forums.

As a new user to Apple, I can definitely understand getting conflicting information on the subject. People can say you should have done this or you should have done that till they are blue in the face, but what's done is done. You can't go back in time and change anything, you got conflicting info which is nothing out of the ordinary this day and age. But rest assured by the time you actually will want to upgrade your SSD, an alternative will most likely be out. There are some companies working on PCIe SSD's right now for the late 2013 rMBP's. Other than that enjoy your rMBP and welcome to the forums:D

Yes, you googled and got conflicting information after you bought the MBP already. You may have researched what's in the MacBook, but you certainly didn't research if you could upgrade the machine at all or not.

"5. I love Hardware...so again, looking at my options....I honestly didnt think in this day n age RAM Chips would be Hard Soldered to a Mobo...my bad."

You made an assumption before purchasing the MacBook. Now you know.
He even said that no one knows what you are intending to do with your MacBook, even setting myself straight, so Meister's post still applies. No one trying to offend you. Seriously, no need to get your underwear in a bunch.

Anyhow, enjoy your new MacBook!
