Then your probably drooling at the thought of samsung sdi previewing (and hopefully releasing) their amoled concept laptop. keyboard, touchpad, screen, and even the samsung logo on the cover (so i've heard) is to be amoled O_O

please. like they are going to say "and the IPODS are available right now!" read my other other posts about how we will have to wait before they can be purchased!
chill man, im only teasing you!

Is it safe to believe that 17" MBPros will not appear sooner than MWSF2008 due to the high cost of producing larger than 15" LED displays? I mean if Apple is going to announce new MBPros, then surely it will want the 17" to go LED. Said that, LEDs are still pricey at larger than 15" (or am i wrong), so 17" are not an option to go LED. So why not wait untill MWSF08 when prices for 17" will have dropped, and then announce the new MBPros with all its models, finally, LED ready.

What do you think of this theory?

Ok, so this is kind of a pet peeve, but here it goes:
[science teacher rant on]
you do NOT have a theory. a THEORY is a well-substantiated explanation which both explains and predicts the behavior of natural phenomena. It must be supported by large amounts of data or observation. and it must be modifiable and verifiable. it is NOT a GUESS!!!! A HYPOTHESIS, which is what you have put forth, is a testable prediction of events based on observations and inferences.

I'm not picking on you or anything, but I'm on a personal mission to get folks to use this word properly, as its frequent misuse diminishes the importance of the word theory in science. To science, it is one of the strongest words we have to express our understanding of a natural phenomenon
[/science teacher rant off]

thanks for the vent :):)

by the way, the reasoning behind your hypothesis seems valid. It would be cool to see new MBP's sooner, but it would make lots of sense to wait until MWSF.

Hmm... not sure I agree. Here's why:

  • There are already 17" MBPs with LED backlighting.
  • 17" displays will not significantly come down in price over just a couple months.
  • It takes months to mass produce laptops. In all likelyhood they are already on the line.
  • Why would Apple completely blow off the 2008 holiday buying season? So they can get all flashy a few days too late?
Regardless, here's to hoping the refresh release is sooner than later! :)

Hey I'm the same way when it comes to the words IRONIC, TAOISM and TIMBRE. Ironic is almost always misused when its actually a coincidence or a simple connection of some sort. For timbre & tao they are just always mispronounced. "Timbre" is not <timber> its actually pronounced <tamber> and "tao" is acually pronounced with a <d> not a <t>.

ps I blame Alanis Morrisette for the the irony thing. =)
