New Messaging icon

Anyone else hate the new Messaging icon on 3.0?

It's okay with me, but I don't like the diagonal lines in the green background of the phone icon and the messaging icon.

Yeah, those diagonal lines they put in the iPod icon, phone icon and messaging app are fugly. They should have just left it simple like the old icons.

Personally I do not care for it. I know it's just an icon, but I just think it looks plain and dull.

I think it's a fine icon, but it will just look weird next to the third party icons, like beejive, that don't update soon enough. Also, the two store icons should be updated to match. I never liked that they were so similar yet had different background styles.

I hope Spaz doesn't find this thread or we'll have to hear about how he's avoiding 3.0 until they change the icons back.

I think they're just temp icons. Almost looks like the stripes indicate that these are the places where they need to do some work.

I thought so too, but watching the Keynote, they were on the highlighted title slides... like "okay, now a look at the messaging app..." and you'd see the new icon with the lines... looks like it was meant to be that way.

Speaking of icons, did anyone notice how the new stocks icon's graph shows a bigger climb than the old one. I wonder if this was done on purpose, especially considering the current economic climate?

Yes, I think the messages icon looks weird next to the phone icon because they used to have the same knock-out to white. ...But now the Messages icon has this gray bubble with a drop shadow? It looks weird to me.

Look at the icon again. It's not the SMS that people like. The new one has odd lines running across the background and a really deep drop shadow on the word bubble.
