The whole idea of Macs vs. PCs is the cornerstone of Apple's success (to be fair - there were differences back when they were on PPC). They don't want people to know it's really PCs with Windows/Linux vs. PCs with OS X, because they want to justify the price difference as much as possible. That's why they want for companies to charge more for their "Apple-specific" hardware, it's the same with "Mac RAM" and a bunch of other products. A marketing gimmick is an appropriate word, yes.To be somewhat fair, Apple charges any company to use that sticker, so it will most likely be reflected in the price to the end user. However, I don't think those prices are reflective of the actual cost Apple charges.
