So much fiction

Apple Employees have always gotten a FREE .mac/mobile account and 4 years ago gave FREE family account 99/175.00 As MM went away and the FREE 20 gig was going to go away apple just bumped it to the max of 50 like the got the max of 20...

They get a 25% off once a year and up to 3 15% off for fan and Friends for a CPU. My friends at apple get hit from everyone around them and there kids friends for every discount. So my sons ask me if i can get them an iPod or MBA from my friend all the time.

The once every 3 year NEW discount is for 500 off either a CPU(no mini) or 250 of and iPad not both. My friend at apple corporate tried to use it for both and Epic fail.

Apple hires lots of part time workers to meet the demands either with Phone support or Store sales. Any hours cut back or lay offs are just part of EVERY US based Co. COSTCO per say is 1.

as a long time iTools/.mac/mobile me/iCloud my 20 gets hammered and now with documents and preview back ups its going to use more.

So apple gives its employees some perks and thats a bonus for them.

At COSTCO you get a FREE membership and also as part time you get benefits .

So many!

The discount is $500 off a Mac, $250 off an iPad, and free 50GB of storage. If you add them all together, that comes to an $850 value. That doesn't go far in covering the cost of an employee's pay. Not to mention that to Apple, they're not really losing much cash by offering these deals to employees. Giving them iCloud space doesn't cost money like a bonus or something would. And discounts on computers don't hurt Apple's pocketbook much, either, at least not in these kinds of quantities. It's much cheaper for Apple than paying wages to a bunch of employees.

250 off an iPad OR 500 off a Mac every THREE years. So it proves your point even more. Lets say I worked at an apple store, my first year I buy a Mac and get that 50gb I'm taking about 600 from apple on top of pay, it's not going to come close to a paycheck for one other employee

Then who are the people working at the apple stores? Best Buy employees?

Typically, yes. If they wear a BLACK polo with an Apple logo on the front (where the Best Buy badge would normally go) they're an Apple Certified specialist, who works one of two ways - They could be an Apple employee, though even in the US, this amounts to less than 1-per-Best Buy OR they're contracted.

Or are you saying the apple stores are actually knock off's? I just assumed they were actual apple stores.

They are not. There's A LOT of certified resellers in Latin America that pull off the Apple store look quite well, but they're not Apple Stores.

At the time I worked in Apple corporate, there were no actual Apple employees in Mexico except I believe a single lawyer and a couple of logistics guys.

Can someone explain to me why the Apple employees feel entitled to "perks"? Are they not being paid to do their job? I don't understand why people feel entitled to freebies nowadays. They already get a very generous discount. I guess it's just the world we live in.

It is called dog fooding. It is bad sign when your own employees do not use your services. Generally speaking you give it to them to encourage the use.

In terms of pay and benefits Apple is well below the industry average. This just falls under the benefits category.

I did not realize that thanks.

Full backup of an iPhone and an iPad to iCloud?

No kidding, A backup of my iPhone 4 and iPad 3 puts me over my "free" storage pretty quick. That's why I just turned off iCloud (other than Photo Stream) and back everything up to my Mac.
