Ok. Post some sales data.
If anyone know anything about the molding or cnc process, you'll know that there're a bunch of "add-on molding gears" that got attached to the molding process and the mold itself. Hence, the mold is usually a lot bigger than the actual product.
It has nothing to do with being the same dimensions as another phone, it's that I want phone manufactures to make progress on keeping screen sizes up, while decreasing the physical size of the device. Making an iPhone that is the same size as the 4.7" HTC One, that was released in March 2013, is not innovation. The iPhone can't be the same size as another phone now? Lol. It's not innovative unless it is an entirely different size than any phone in existence.
I can't believe no one has mentioned the potential $100 price increase resulting in off-contract pricing of $749, $849 and $949 for 16, 32, and 64GB versions. And what about on contact pricing: $299 for 16GB version?
This is going to be one tall-ass phone, i just drew the provided dimensions on paper, it doesn't look natural.![]()
I like the bigger size but why make it so tall? Why not give a little width to it?
If this is true, it would be a very poor choice of dimensions IMO - far too thin.
You cannot keep increasing the length of the phone without increasing it's width too, as the phone starts to lose proportion.
The ratio is already bad enough on the iPhone 5 which is too long for its width and if (as it looks from this photo), the phone isn't getting any wider, adding yet more length onto the phone would be ridiculous.
So bigger is better, but it means bigger in both length and width otherwise bigger is just silly!
Leaks are on fire today! Also, the image is so clear.. A revolution for leaks is on its way!![]()
Man what a piss poor implementation if they really did make the phone longer and longer to accommodate a larger screen size making the phone look more odder and actually decreasing usability rather than for the intended purpose of increasing it. Making it longer so you can claim that it's a large phone you can still use with one hand all the while making it difficult to actually reach the top left corner of the screen where you've stated in your own interface guides menus options and drawers should go is just dumb. Also making it longer would be make it even hard to get to the notification shade. Making it slightly wider and reducing the height would have been the best move possible.
Stop doing stupid things to address problems that aren't really problems but are rather manufactured issues for the sake of marketing, Apple!
Urrgh.
:-(
That's going to be such a nightmare to use. Well, it would be if it didn't push me off iOS entirely, which it probably would.
People stop whinning about it bring too big. Guess what you're a small, yet vocal, minority. The rest of the planet prefers screens in the 5" size range. If apple stops making a 4" phone just go get a 4" android or windows phone as those groups allow for more form factors than apple.
Just what I need. An iPhone so large that it doesn't fit in my pocket! And an iPhone so large that I can't use it one-handed.
Wow, thanks Tim Cook, for your AMAZING INNOVATIONS since Steve died!!
Meanwhile, the ONE LARGE THING that we really do need has been discontinued: the 17" laptop. High screen resolution doesn't matter if the pixels are so small that you have to squint while trying to edit video.
Tim Cook and Phil Schiller are making a complete mess of Steve's house.
Nexus 5 is a boss phone. Another stretched iPhone. Great. I want to switch back, but Apple is just not improving. I thought at least we'd get some new design. Nope, another stretched iPhone 4.
i think exactly the opposite is true. people mostly prefer smaller smartphones. sales data backs this up
This isn't a mold; it's a fixture. The holes through are to allow tools to machine portions of the blank or more probably as a follow up operation. The tell is that it is cast aluminum with few machined surfaces; something that would be appropriate for a fixture that would be used simultaneously on hundreds of CNC machines.
