Very good. And you're right. I remember frequently checking RSS leading up to February 2008's MBP release - and what you said was proven by that experience - BBY's inventory system is simply unreliable. But I'm with you - I'm hoping for an update ASAP!

Most of the time, RSS would say that things weren't even gonna ship. (Thinking back to the launch of Snow Leopard) I looked it up when the rumors got thick and it had no such place holder. Even on the Monday that Apple announced it, it hadn't been entered, and after it was, then it said we weren't getting any. It turned out that all Best Buys got them the day that it came out. So, don't trust RSS with anything.

Last Monday I ordered a 15" MacBook Pro with a 128 GB Solid State HD at a Danish Mac reseller. Today after reading the advise not to buy because updates are imminent and the latest threads, I called them to try to see if I could cancel the order.
And guess what, due to some problems with Apples ordering system they have not been able to confirm my order with Apple last week and I could cancel the order and get my deposit back.
I'm thinking with above being a custom MacBook pro because of the solid state HD, and not a stock item, perhaps Apple is not taking the order because they have switched the production in China to new models and are only shipping out the stock standard MacBook pros.
This is of course wishfull thinking from my side. One could hope.
But they need to start producing new macbook pros before the announcement so they have a good stock of units to ship to cover the first wave of orders and have on stock in the stores.

Thought I'd share the above with you guys and hear your comments.
Cheers.

The reason this is really bothering me at night is here at work we are about to purchase a 36 station iMac lab (27 inchers with i7's) thats fine.

We also are about to order 19 MBP's at 2000 a piece, and if they are really about to update, we would be fools to get them now.

do you have any jobs :):):)

I really hope it's new MBPs. I don't think BBY would put in iPad skus this early.

I checked the skus and whatever these are for BestBuy seems to plan to have them by March 14, 2010 ( In-Stock Date). Seems to early for the ipads...

Now I know those are iPads. It makes sense that there's a "dummy sku" because Apple hasn't assigned them one yet.

If they were new MBP's they would have a SKU like in the other BB screen grabs of last year.

maybe my dream from last night is a sign... I dreamed that I woke up, and for some reason logged onto apple.com and to my excitement they released new macbook pros and mac pros...

I do not understand why the fact that BBY categorises the product in its inventory system continues to be overlooked. Like I said earlier, these three dummy SKUs are a part of the "personal computer" section within RSS (inventory system). I highly doubt that BBY would classify the iPad as an Apple notebook/personal computer.

Steve Jobs made a point of calling Apple the biggest "Mobile" seller.

Apple may consider this a "Mobile Device".

But I guess we won't know "for sure" until March 14th eh ?

It's quite apparent that the screenshots are for the iPhone shuffle by looking at those product dimensions  jk haha, but seriously here's to new MBP's hopefully!

This is true, but to call it a "mobile computer" would be a bit dubious, wouldn't you say? Unfortunately, though, my opinion of what's ethical in Apple/BBY's product descriptions is irrelevant.

14 March could well be a "dummy" date as well - but I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

March 14th is on a Sunday, isn't that kind of odd to have it in stock on that day? Or will they be in stock that night prior to opening the next day on Monday?

I see only 3 items. Does this mean no 13'' Macbook Pro, but $1999, $2299, $2499 15'', 15'', 17'' Ones?

cant be the ipad!

ok guys i know im a newb but if you look at apple site and go to the Ipad section it says shipping starts late march to early april!!

so it cant be the Ipads!

my prediction is that tomorrow or weds is the day!!

Others have stated that Apple releases updates on the Wednesday after a holiday. But from what I can tell, Album and video game releases are scheduled for the 16th. That's not to say Apple will still release an update tomorrow, but here's to hopin'.

if this is true that the new MBP are to be out on 3/14/10 this could mean that the Apple srtore will probably give you a discount on the iPad if purchased with a MBP. I just hope that the updates to the MBP are worth it....I am looking to buy a 15 inch MBP but as of right now i really dont want to spend 2,000 on outdated tech. I know Apple wants to make as much money as possible but i just cant imagine how they can get away with selling MBP's that are outdated in specs by pc laptops and selling generally at a lower price. its a wait and see game but i just hope its sooner rather than later.
