understocked vending machines? Oh the humanity!

Slow news day?
How about not being able to use the same restrooms as Apple employees and having to wait in line to use a restroom?

Aren’t you being a little too selective with your arrogant comments?

I work in a significantly more hostile and toxic environment. If you can't deal, look for a job elsewhere, and put that you worked for Apple on your resume.

That’s actually one thing they weren’t allowed to do (the Apple mention). I agree entirely about moving onto a new role.

Oh no, not gray badges. Wait until they’re required to dye their heads purple and wear figure skates to work for quick differentiation from the Apple employees.

I was once interviewed for Apple as an engineer. This was the worst ever experience with the guy on the other end being a complete and utter jerk, telling me I should feel so lucky to get a call from them because they are Apple! This was the height of arrogance I’d ever experienced in my life during an interview.

I told them I wasn’t interested in proceeding because of that attitude. I love(ed) Apple products, but I would never work for Apple. The place is packed with A-type ******s.

I also interviewed for Google for a similar position on site in Mountain View, and that was the best interview experience in my life. That was 10 and 12 years ago.

Interesting - the folks on here saying,"Just get another job.", are right in there with the same folks who say, "Buy some other product.", if you complain about Apple's design and QC issues of late. If Apple condones this kind of treatment by contractors in the U.S., just imagine what must go on in China, where most of their products are manufactured. To read this kind of stuff combined with all the social platitudes enunciated by Apple's leadership is a bit much. Asking a company to stock vending machines, provide adequate restroom facilities, and refrain from excessive monitoring of employees isn't out of line. These are people, not cattle. These sorts of conditions are cause for a new labor movement. The demise of labor unions, which began under Reagan nearly 40 years ago, has led to the current predicament rampant among corporations - lousy working conditions, low benefits, low pay. But yeah, just get another job.

Under-stocked vending machines?

What's a "vending machine"?
That's a machine containing food which you can purchase with what little money you make from companies like this. If you aren't going to stock it, why put it there?

Yikes. Time to look for a new job, I think, unless you enjoy the abuse...?

Working for a subcontractor always sucks. Period. This are Interims Jobs until you find something better.
Yes Apple should demand better work conditions as this leads to higher quality of the product. But it will still suck to not be in the main company.
Take the job only if you have to and then leave ASAP. The job market is fairly good right now so leave and increase you job skills.

I live and work in right-to-work states (no union). I can be fired because they don't like my haircut. (not a member of a protected class) I've been through 7 layoffs over my 33 years at the company I work for. I am not in management. My working life is filled with the fear of being fired on any given day. I don't have anything on or in my desk that I would want back. When I'm fired I will leave and not have to go back to get anything from my desk. I don't know if this is the toxicity you're talking about but it's been a part of my working life since day one.

no doubt this is not an isolated incident. i would pretty much say this is standard procedure at places that contract workers for apple. bait them in with the promise of working for apple, then they can literally mis treat them however they choose. kinda similar to my current job, actually.

I agree. I'm not a fan of the black or white "Take it or leave it" mentality. I also don't like how so many things are "How bad can we make it before we get in trouble?" The employees and employers should get some courage and try to make the conditions better. Obviously, just quitting & hiring new people isn't going to change things.

Why not try to get jobs in Apex management. Then get those vending machines filled. And treat people better.

At my last job our best vending option was bugles, only drinks were tap water and cheap coffee. I had to pay for parking that was 4 blocks away and we only had one “employee entrance”. That is just normal non-perk working conditions. If people are targeting aggressive on LinkedIn don’t open the message or block the person. These seem more like privileged complaints then real problems.

What were their Job duties? Were they engineers? Or Manual Apple Maps Editors?

Pretty grim that corporate advertising and influence in education results in some many members siding with this company and repeating the mantra that you are lucky to have a job. Depressing how many non-Americans are starting to repeat and believe that vile nonsense as well.
