It's so amusing how people look for issues. I guess we could combine checklist of

"What to do after you get new MacBook":
1. Check items placement in the box - if it looks suspicious, return
2. Check for microscratches on notebook with magnifying lens - if succes, return
3. Check battery cycles, if more than 1, return
4. Open checkboard image for 2 hours and check for image retention, return
5. Check if display is LG or Samsung. If any of those - return

What?! Everybody normal does all this stuff after buying laptop, I swear it!

also remember to make a new thread on macrumors forums about all of those things to ensure everyone knows how serious it is

lol, you are right on target! We should just enjoy our machines and only deal with issues when they actually arise !

This is the dumbest thread ever.

The computer is new.

Apple performs software installs and calibrations/checks before shipping the machine. It also stress tests it to make sure it won't fail. This is standard computer building procedure.

Complaining about battery cycles is like buying a new car and returning it because it has 6 miles on the odometer. Well, of COURSE it has a few miles; they need to test it, ship it, deliver it, etc.. That doesn't make it a used car, it just makes it have a few miles on it -- by design.

i returned my mac 7 times

i had received screens made by samsung and lg

i demand one made by apple

Mine has 8. I called Apple tech support and she assured me that its ok. My units serial # was confirmed as a brand new unit by the technician. She said that due to testing, This is normal and if it bothers me, I can easily exchange it. I believe her.
