Could also be that Apple will be announcing a new 4K Thunderbolt display along side the new Mac Pro and want to show off the new rMBP alongside it.

I dont think the new retinas will be able to run their native resolution + a 4K TB display. Way too many pixels.

As much as I need 32gb for my work, I wouldn't be surprised if it came with 16gb max.

Wishlist

32GB Ram
2GB minimum Vram 4GB optional

I'll gladly forget about the new iMac/mpro

The message behind it we can all get right? They keep putting things out a little behind every other PC company and yet so many of us sit at the edge of our seats drooling at anti-climatic releases for the past 6 years.

Yup, that's why apple's lineup uses 802.11ac, PCIe, and the newest and fastest RAM available to consumers...always behind, that apple.

Let's not forgot the 200+million devices that have been shipping for years with BT 4.0 and the upcoming iBeacon revolution ;)

'Display and Audio Features Comparison' section shows it is capable of pushing 3 monitors at 4k 60fps (there is no restriction of total combined resolution written anywhere, so it's up to someone with a 5200 (and somehow 3 hdmi 2.0 ports or 3 TB2 ports or 3 display 1.2 ports to test)

anyway it would still be useful for a 'pro' user to use a 4k screen powered by their rmbp even if it mean the internal screen turned off

I appreciate you looking into this. However unless i'm missing something, they do not say it'll run at 60fps. it'll run at 60hz, which is different than fps. Your monitor is going to run at 60hz no matter what the fps you are getting. This may allow for up to 3x monitors to be hooked up and display the desktop, but I assume doing anything graphically intensive will slow down the machine significantly. The GPU (be it an intel or dedicated one) will be stressed just from outputting that many pixels.

yes you are correct that fps does not equal hz, the fps of an application could be much higher or lower than the refresh rate of the monitor

however hz does mean refresh per second thus saying it can get 60hz has some merit as it shows the igpu is able to push all those pixels 60 times per second, thus it probably has some extra horse power to do polygon calculations

the previous gen igpus had limitations to both the max resolution and max hz, showing that they were basically to weak to even push that many pixels per second regardless of any additional polygon calculations it has to do

scrolling up and down on an intensive website will not give you 60fps in the website window, however moving an explorer/finder window around will probably be at 60fps matching the 60hz the monitor can do (making the experience of 60hz 4k monitor vs 30hz 4k monitor much better)
