With that photo the notch is starting to grow on me ... Im interested to see what an actual screen shot on the iphone x will look like ... will it just have a blank space where the notch it??

Yay! Taking my first trip to Sweden next Wednesday...and Finland the following week. I'm guessing both countries already have extensive implementation of tap to pay terminals and my cards have already been supported in the US.

From my reading on Finnish Forum apple pay has worked with US cards along time already. We just cant use our own yet.

That is the case everywhere in the world. Most people are not keen enough on apple pay to fly to the US and open a bank account and pay a lot of money in fees to transfer funds into it. What a lot of people in Germany have been doing is to open a boon account in France and then use it here. But they charge quite a bit of fees to have such an account

Can’t believe they bring it to Sweden before Germany :((( can’t apple just give in and make a deal with german banks or even better just open the technology to everyone
Apple is stubborn and the banks in Germany are stubborn (perhaps rightfully so). Eventually, something or someone will have to give so progress can be made.

I agree. I hope that Samsung Pay will soon come putting much more pressure on Apple to deliver as well or loose more market share

After visiting the US i am actually surprised that Germany has not gotten it yet and have to reverse my judgment regarding cashless payment options in Germany.

I havent seen cashing systems as slow as in the US like omg it took forever to process my credit card and chip? Most cashier looked at me like ???? and had me sign a receipt even when it said PIN VERIFIED. When i pointed it out and was like look there isnt even a field to sign on the receipt ... one even walked over to her colleague and both were like hmmmmm still sign it to be sure. And tapping seems to be unheard of too!

Oh and some ATMs look like they r from 2 centuries ago. I was like is this thing even genuine?

I was really shocked
Yeah, some banks & businesses here in the US seem to be content with sticking to the 1990s. Over the past few weeks, I even encountered stores with credit card terminals that have the chip function disabled forcing you to swipe your card. I thought that was violating the new bank rules here. I've travelled to Germany many times since the 70s, about 30 visits (I was a kid in the 70s and 80s) and while cash still seems to be king in some establishments, the banking sector is definitely ahead of us.

It would be very convenient to use my Watch to pay in the grocery store though.

But just one bank at launch? o_O (ironically the bank that just moved their HQ out of Sweden)

How widespread are contactless terminals in Sweden? I visit about once per year (most recently to Stockholm a couple of weeks ago), and whilst most terminals installed are capable of accepting contactless (i.e. Ingenico iPP350, Verifone VX820), at most places I went it was not enabled. There were certainly improvements since my last visit in August 2016 - for example, convenience store Pressbyrån has enabled it since that time - but considering the level of 'cashlessness', I'm surprised it is not more widespread at least from my experience.

I would say that it got a lot more widespread during 2017. “All” grocery stores, fast food restaurants and bars have enable it. With the release of Apple Pay I’m sure the demand for contact payments will grow bigger and thus putting more pressure on the market.

Yeah for some reasons it never works in the US and everything is super slow. The technology is there though - the same terminals work just fine with my NFC cards in Canada. No clue why they make it such a pain in the ass to use there

I believe the answer to your question is to be found in the subject matter of the article. Would it be far fetched to assume that if the banks want to get rid of circulating cash, a "pain in the ass" every time you needed cash wouldn't be such a bad idea.

So the state and companies can track each and every transaction of yours...?
I guess so. The only people that use cash “made out of paper” are old people and children really (there is no age restriction for cards in Sweden). Everyone else uses a card and Swish.

TBH with the amount of corporate data mining and tracking that goes on, with smartphones and on the internet, the state and a couple local shops are the least of my worries.

↑ Swish is totally dominating the person-to-person payments in Sweden. Even though iPhones are extremely common here in Sweden, I think people will think I'm a weirdo if I ask if I can pay/receive through Pay. It would be very convenient to use my Watch to pay in the grocery store though.

How about you join EU first? I'm sure it would be easier for you guys to join Pay if you were under the same set of laws.
Probably but if I were to choose between Apple Pay and the EU..

Now there’s a option to add your credit card or bank cards in wallet app. But I don’t know witch cards have support

Nordea debit and credit cards work and those by ST1 also, apparently.

Yep I can confirm this, just got the update to Nordea’s app and added the card to the wallet. Now if only I knew what to do with it
