Google speck coupon codes. Got mine slightly cheaper. Really nice case, but I did have some trouble getting mine. Check my post about being furious with speck. All said, really glad I have it and the protection looks pretty cool on it.

I've got the black satin case for my 2.4GHz Aluminum MacBook. So far, I think it's fantastic. It fits pretty well, although the bottom part seems a tiny, tiny bit loose. I plan on using some double sided tape to ensure that it doesn't move.

I didn't care for the older Speck cases as they seemed very brittle and scratched easily. This one is a large improvement.

RE: Speck see-thru

i used to coupon codes from google lol, one is "survey" and i forgot the other one sorry

But with the shipping it comes to 41.25, a dollar less than Amazon with free shipping. I got one this week at the Apple Store (B&M) and they matched Amazon's price. I did have to pay tax, but I went home with it then and there.

By the way, it opens up ALL the way. It adds a bit of bulk to the Macbook, but unless you have a very tight sleeve or case, it doesn't matter much.

I got the clear one because the black satin one kind of hides the fact that you have a Macbook. Hey, I can afford to pay twice as much for a laptop and I want people to know it! LOL.

I purchased both the new Speck Black Satin and Clear See Thru for the new MacBook Pro 2nd Generation. My thoughts:

Fit and features are the same for both. They go on very easily and fit like a glove. They allow the full movement of the screen unlike the incase design for the older macbooks. They allow access to all ports, including my Kensington lock which works fine with the case on.

They both obviously add some weight and bulk, but not as much as one might expect. Still, it is something of a sacrifice to lose the sleek feel of the newer MacBook Pro. But, I would be far more saddened if I badly scratched the MacBook.

The Black Satin looked and felt very nice. However, and there always seems to be a however, I didn't like the way it showed fingerprints. I also wasn't found of the way the Apple Logo shined through with a purple cast. Some will love that look.

The Clear also looks very nice in my opinion. It does not detract from the look at all. I actually like the glossy appearance it adds. Again, some will not like the glossiness.

I had read of dust or dirt getting trapped under the case and causing scratches on past Speck Models. I don't know if the redesign has had an effect, but nothing appears to have gotten under mine. Nevertheless, it is very important to thoroughly clean both the MacBook and the case before installing. This is also why I particularly like the Clear version, as I can see if anything has gotten under the case and remove and clean if necessary.

All in all, very pleased so far.

I am intrigued by the shield option ( Invisible Shield, BodyGuardz, etc ) as I would protect from scratches without adding bulk. However, I am concerned if the adhesive would have a long term effect in the Aluminum finish. If anyone has applied a film I would like to know how they liked it and if removed, how easy and any residue?

I too had been waiting on the incase hard case. My fiance asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I couldn't think of anything. She ended up getting me the speck Hard shell satin and a rain mstand for my macbook. The speck case is pretty nice, and the satin soft touch material has a nice feel to it. I still prefer the look naked, but the speck should help minimize nicks and scratches. Only thing I really don't like is that with the case on, it's a bit of a tight fit getting it in an incase sleeve.

hey everyone,

anyone try the satin case with a invisible shield? would the speck case fit..? or would the shield be too much....?

also, does the speck case do any scratches to the laptop themselves? i heard the old ones were hard to take off and scratched the macbook alot?

not so concerned with scrached on the outside of the macbook, all protected, but any scratches to the screen where the speck hooks in?

thx!

I have had the speck case on since Christmas Eve and have removed twice to check and see if any scratches, NONE! case or screen, very happy with the case, just wipe the outside of the case with soap and water with a micro-fiber cloth, and clean the keys and screen. I would buy one again if I ever bought a new computer.

thanks for the reply!

anyone have problems fitting the case onto a macbook with an invisible shield?

thx!

Satin vs. Glossy/Clear...

I'm really enjoying the satin case. Totally used to it now and can't imagine leaving my lovely Alum exposed to the elements.

I'm curious about the Glossy/Clear Speck case. I've heard that it's brittle and that the 1st gen design would actually scratch your notebook. Any comments comparing the Glossy/Clear to the Satin???

I've recently been contemplating ditching my satin black case and going naked. I'm starting to miss the all aluminum look and feel of the new Macbooks.

I've used the black/satin case on my alu macbook for a little over a week. I have decided to take it off. Here's a short review:

PRO:
- Perfect fit (tight tolerances)
- Takes seconds to put on/take off
- Pretty much the easiest way to change the color of your macbook
- Protects in case of small accidents etc.

CON:
- Macbook will run hotter. I've measured with the case and without the case. You're looking at a 5-7 degree Celsius difference. Just that makes it not worth the effort to me.
- It adds an enormous amount of bulk to the laptop. You can easily notice it when you're carrying it around in your backpack/bag.
- Rubberized coating will come off eventually, making the case clear. It's simply painted/sprayed on.
- Taking it on/off will eventually scratch the aluminum.

I think it's worth about 20-30$, not the 50$ price tag. It's probably the best you can get out there and that's not saying much because there aren't many options. I don't regret buying it but I ended up taking it off because of the heat/weight issue. If that's not a problem for you then go ahead and get it. You won't regret it.

I haven't noticed any of you cons at all and the size isn't anything. With it on it's the same as my old whitebook naked.

Weird popping sound when removing from case

I am thinking about only using the satin case when traveling... I noticed that when I pull it out of my sleeve, I feel and hear a slight popping sound. I get worried that the case may be putting stress on the top lid.

I like the look of my Black Satin Speck case but I've been thinking of going naked. I have the AppleSac to carry it around in. So many decisions. Return the case and maybe buy something else? So many decisions....
