I don’t see the benefit of wearing a smart watch if you also have to carry the phone (these health measures can be had with a £20 wristband from Amazon).

The point is mobile connectivity so that one can leave the phone at home.
I don’t leave home without my watch on. Allows me to leave the phone in my pocket unless I want to use it.

Getting alarms and notifications and calendar event reminders, seeing who is calling so I can ignore the junk, receiving texts and sending a quick okay, paying for products. Never have to take my phone out.

Not having the phone available and just wearing a cellular watch isn’t the end all, though. It can’t take photos, look up something spur of the moment you need to know, do email in any meaningful way, etc.

Why would a high end watch brand price things low and kill their brand. I don’t think Tag make a sub £1k anything do they?

The reality is there are a lot of people with lots of money in their pockets and they need to buy expensive things to justify having a lot money. And that’s why you can buy 10k scarves or diamond encrusted phones with the utility of a 10yr old Nokia somewhere!

The person that buys a 2k tag smartwatch wouldn’t dream of looking at £300 Apple Watch. It’s just how luxury pricing works.
These brand serve those types of people. Value for money is not a driver for them.

I wish the hands etc were mechanical would be an awesome hybrid.
I was going to say the same thing. I think a digital screen behind mechanical hands would be such a great differentiator and attract those that really would like a traditional watch but feel like they're missing out on some smart features.

That's a nice looking watch, and I wouldn't mind having one if I was in a different tax bracket.

Given my finances the AWU is a better buy for me, and I have one. But I can see the appeal of this if your money is in a different spot than mine.

Would love to see what Apple could do with a circular AW face. After 11 years, I’m kind of surprised the overall form factor has stayed the same.

I don't understand it.

Software is supposed to be flexible.

Make some more interesting hardware options for us to choose from, especially for a watch, which is often visible and part of a fashion consideration.

It's so low effort to just do watch bands and leave it at that. 😕

I had the first two Tag smart watches. I didn't buy them to justify having the money to buy them, that's a weird way to put it.

I bought them because I like the way Tags look and at the time they provided functionality on par with other smartwatches. If they could maintain that functional parity, I'd buy this one too but it looks like it probably doesn't. So I stick with my $750 Titanium Apple Watches.

The value of a Tag, is the craftsmanship of the actual "clock"; to have a beautiful piece of engineering.
With a SmartWatch, that space is occupied by Apple, beautiful piece of engineering (or Garmin, or Samsung; to each their own)

It's absurd to have a Tag (or any other premium watchmaker) as Smart watch.

I have 4 different Tag Heuer watches but at that price point, no thanks. But if I DIDN'T have an  watch, I would be tempted.
really? this is a bargain compare to my carrera auto chrono. Tag Heuer is a luxury/entry luxury (depend on who you ask) so this price entry shouldn't be a shock.

Yes, so that's where customisation should happen.

Make some more interesting hardware options for us to choose from, especially for a watch, which is often visible and part of a fashion consideration.

But why? Isn't that what the software is for? The hardware should be a vessel to pour software and customisations into. A constant and dependable platform that changes very little over the years (so that the investment in software doesn't go to waste all the time).

In software, Apple has many watch faces – round, rectangular and lots that defy traditional expectations of what a watch face can be. Not to mention the endless ways of mixing and matching watch faces and complications.

It's so low effort to just do watch bands and leave it at that. 😕

Watch bands and software. I can't imagine the effort being low.

I like it (and the price is “ok”)… but I wish it was still mechanical. Like - do mechanical hands over a digital face. That would be something different and interesting.

For a moment I thought that’s what this was - but it turned out not to be true…

..and sometimes, being disconnected is enjoyable. You don't always have to carry your phone, watch or otherwise.
Let me introduce you to Airplane Mode/DnD/Focus/Sleep/Notification Settings/…

You don’t need to pull the breaker to turn off the light.
