I don't know the details of what makes a watch hold value but I do know it is not the software and CPU in the phone. I have briefly looked at pricing for some 1980's used Tags and they are still costs thousands. They also are mechanical and if they were cared for will work the same as when they were bought brand new 1980. The same cannot be said about these digital watches. Phones will move on and eventually they will not be compatible. Batteries will go and will Tag still make a battery for this model 10 years down the road? This is purely paying for the name and nothing else.

Yes they will, I asked. But likely not 20 years they said. Thank you for your concern how I/we spend our money.

The batteries might be made, I wonder how long the software will work. Either way digital in my mind lacks the craftsmanship that I like in watches. I can understand a high price tag for a mechanic watch, I have a harder time for something digital that the software will have an end date and ultimately drop the value of that watch significantly till it is at some point completely worthless.

Same for cars, but have to enjoy them while you can. Otherwise we’d all still be using sundials and hourglasses. I assume you have an iPhone (which you paid a hefty sum), or still using a telegraph? Sorry to break it to you.. that software on your expensive iPhone isn’t going last indefinitely either. LOL
