There's a great example of this in the Steam for iOS app. They haven't optimised it for iPhone 6 yet so what you get is a scaled up version of the default keyboard (in black!), with bigger keys and larger gaps, which works just great! I dunno why this isn't available as an accessibility setting.

If you want, you can use the scaled UI for the entire system by enabling it in Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom. I personally find it too blurry.

Am I the only one who uses the default keyboard still?

I tried downloading swiftkey and others when this option became available. But when they asked me to give them full access to my entire phone, I said no overtime. The result is that these keyboards are no better and even worse that the default. All those other features have too high of a cost for me (in giving them too much access).

So until they can find a way to make their apps work without me giving away all my security and privacy, I will be with you on the default keyboard.

I blame Apple for that. Due to limitations in the extension APIs, developers can’t use the keyboards to their full potential without using the app for some key functions. They can only demand full access. Some developers claim that they don’t transmit any data at all, instead do the processing locally, but we as users cannot verify that.

The reasonable thing to do would be to enforce stricter rules for such keyboard apps, like certification marks. Apple could thoroughly examine these apps and thus see whether the data can leave the app. They could even grant these apps full access by default in that case. Apps that do process the data server-side could be singled out.

I don't get the point of swipe typing. Is it really any faster than just tapping with your thumbs?

I tried it, but perhaps I need to give it another go.

Much, much faster. I sometimes use iOS 6 on my old iPod and the keyboard just makes me want to die when I need to type something.

Swiftkey is amazing.

No, you're not the only one. For one, I don't need pointless frilly keyboards that don't do anything more than Apples default, #2 I'm not going to freely give the developers of this app access to key log everything I use the keyboard for on my phone.

Is this the kind of pointless features Samsung people go gaga over that makes them think their phones are so much better? Does having an orange keyboard really make you think your phone is better? LOLOLOLLLLLOOOLLL

I like the Swiftkey in Android, but not that much in iOS. In addition to general 3rd party keyboard issue on iOS, the location of emoji key is a deal breaker. That makes switching from Swiftkey to other keyboard a multi-step task. Quite silly design.

So Apple's keyboard offers swiping? Or just stuck L and O keys? ;)

If I wanted a crappy third party keyboard I'd just switch to Android.

Or you know have a choice of using one on an OS that you like. But surely we shouldn't have horrible things like choices.

That zooms the entire screen which isn't really what I'm after. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Since it doesn't ask you to log into any service to "improve" it's autocorrect, full access is not required to use the Swype 3rd party keyboard except to purchase keyboard themes and download language packs. Of course, you can just go ahead and disable full access after. Once you've got your language and the theme you like, you'll never have to enable full access again.

I have SwiftKey as my only keyboard since day one and I have never experienced any crash whatsoever. SwiftKey is a blessing because I can type Dutch and English without switching keyboards. Is it only a problem for non iPhone 6 users, because I see so many complaints and I have truly never experienced any problems.

Have you never had it not show up in Messeges so one has to quit the app and launch it again to get the keyboard to show up? Or the keyboard not showing when trying to search from the home screen (swipe down)?

Agree on the dual lingo support – it's great –*and I really like SwiftKey except that it isn't working as consistently/gracefully as the keyboards built-in to iOS.

I'd say it isn't much faster two handed but it's easier and faster one handed.

I can honestly say that this has never happened to me. I've been using SwiftKey since day one as the default iOS keyboard is terrible when you use two languages in one sentence. I must say that I don't use Spotlight search a lot (when I do it's working), but I do type maybe a 100 messages a day in Whatsapp, Messages, CloudMagic, Gmail and Paper (Facebook) combined and I use Safari all the time too. I don't have cloud sync activated, maybe that has something to do with it?

I used it on android and have been using it on ios since it came out with no crashes whatsoever.

I agree. The bilingual support is awesome. I type in both Spanish and English and its awesome. Don't have to bother switching keyboards. Finally more themes are coming. Been waiting for a long time!

Me too and I agree with you.
