Feel the same about music downloads? I pay alot through ITMS, but still many of my friends still download the same songs illegally...
No offence intended, but it should make you feel good that you deservedly get the Tiger builds. You shouldn't care about the illegal downloads.

Not to mention the fact that software would all be a lot cheaper if people would stop pirating it.

Possibly. In some ways I think software is a lot like most people with music. If for some reason the pirates couldn't pirate anymore, they wouldn't buy the software anyways, they would just do without.

For the love of god, the OS is not going to require a CD key any time soon

OS X Server already requires a CD key, even the Tiger beta does.

Which is entirely due to the fact that they sell two versions of Server (ten-user and unlimited). It is to maintain that, not to verify the system itself (though that is an added bonus).

Bet you it wouldn't

That, I think, is naive. Piracy is like taxes. If it went away completely, that would be one less pressure on the pricing mechanism on the down side. Can't get a stolen copy running? Watch OS X go up to whatever the market will bear. How do you think Apple was able to pressure the record companies into the .99 per tune pricing? Because the competition was "free."

If all deductions vanished from your paycheck, your wages would fall, because your company is in competition with another firm that cuts its wages after the No Taxes At All bill passes. If sales taxes went away, there's 5-10 percent available for a price rise.
