You have to pay for whatever wireless Internet you are on, unless it is your neighbor's (or anywhere's) open network.
Yes and also no.
They are both correct.

Is a Myspace App free? And what about the ability to check your email through yahoo, do they charge for that?

How would they charge you? It's not like a phone where the carrier has your credit card number and information.

Also, if you have iTunes installed on your computer, you can browse the app store, even if you don't have a touch/iphone.

In order to download apps from iTunes, you need an iTunes account, even if you are downloading free apps -- you don't get charged for free apps, but you do need an account.

You don't get charged for internet access on the touch itself, but you do have to have access to a wifi network. A wifi network can be open (no password needed) or closed (password needed). If you find an open wifi network, then you can use it for free, to check your email or surf the web or whatever else. If a network is closed, you wouldn't know the password to it unless you have paid for access or are otherwise authorized to access it.

Also, most important, make sure you get a screen protector. I got mine from www.bestskinsever.com and it should run you under $10 and it will protect your screen from getting scratched.

why get a screen protector? its a waist of money. ur screen is almost indestructible as it is. and if ur not satisfied, just coat your screen in liquid diamond, let it cool and u have an indestructible, shiny, and glamorous screen with only one application!

I'm going to be getting an iPod touch soon and it will be my first iPod ever (coming from the zune camp, the touch is just so attractive) so I have a few questions.

1. Do I have to use iTunes with it or are there other programs that I can sync with?

2. What kind of "apps" are there and what kind are recommended?

3. I've seen people playing playstation, gameboy and super nintendo on the iTouch how do you do this?

Welcome to ipod camp!

eek! i wouldn't agree with any of those.

As mentioned before, there's hundreds of apps and games and so forth. use the search functions to find what matches your likes and tastes. What we might mention is pretty irrelevant unless we get lucky ;)
