I wish refurb models had SSDs

Well which models are available changes almost daily. You just need to check consistently for a while and you are sure to find one at one point. Its like you can get MBP's with SSD's and other BTO upgrades like the CPU in the refurb section aswell.

I hope you didnt get the ram through apple :\ its roughly 300% over priced. You could get 16GB and diy for less than apple charges for 8GB.

I got the 27ghz 3.1 new off amazon for $1894 prime shipped next day. No tax
And 8gb of ram as well for $39.99 shipped.

Even w a $100 of discount on apple, tax kills.

This is the refurbished section of the apple store. These machines are pretty much brand new. Some people say they are better than the ones you buy normally because they had been tested down to every little component and anything that is not 100% is replaced. I Have several refurbs and they are flawless.

Any way, you can get a 3.4 i7 for less than what you paid for your 3.1 i5 or you can get the 3.1 for pretty much the same price as the 2.7 i5.

You might want to look at that and reconsider. Im amazed no one else brought up the refurb models.

I did see that. It would put me at $2013.84 after tax. I wouldn't mind a refurb but my w my wife a refurb is not an option. It's either new or nope.

2x 27" 3.1 with the 6970 and AppleCare, total was $3730

You get the same Warranty, Same everything. In fact, they go through more QC than a new off the assembly line model.

You just don't get the pretty box with a picture on it.

Throw AppleCare on it and you are golden.

Refurbs from Apple are really fantastic.

The only difference is the box it comes in. You would never know it was refurbished (except for the lower price you paid).
