My cable box is a piece of junk (and I suspect many others will agree). I much prefer watching on appleTV if i have the chance.
Me too. I returned 2x DVR's and 2x STB's which I was paying > $70 per month. Now I only have Apple TV 4's on all of tv'S. We need more streaming options. I said 2015 was to be the year of streaming. I think I was off by 2 years. Hoping 2017 will get us there.

Totally agree with this. I know I'm probably in the minority, but there are really only two or three channels I'm missing now that I'm relying on my cable subscription + corresponding Apple TV apps for my TV needs. Other than that, everything I could want to watch is already there and then some. And yes, I know I'm technically paying for channels in my tv bundle that don't have their own Apple TV apps yet, but those all happen to be stations that I would never watch anyway so I'm good. I know this method wouldn't work for everyone's needs, but it does work for me really well.

I have 2x Primes with CableCard on Frontier FIOS. Works great with the Apple TV 4 Channels App. For those on TWC this solution can be a problem since a lot of channels have DRM protection and are not supported with Apple TV 4.

Shouldn't the ISP Cable card should deal with that! The only problem Cable Cards won't deal with the traditional paid channels (HBO, etc)!

No. Decryption but NOT DRM.

You are required to have DRM support for the FULL PATH. From the COAX at the wall thru the HDHomeRun Prime (which it does) to the STB (like the Apple TV) and then lastly to the TV. The SD (HDHomeRun) folks have a App on Android that supports DRM. But nothing else that I know of so far.

TiVo is connected directly to the TV so it is easier to have support. The HDHomeRun Prime is a Network Turner so the next in the Path must also support DRM.

Yeah, the channels these apps are for are not intended for cord cutters, specifically. The apps are aimed at folks who want to watch video on the go on their iDevices. HBO and Showtime, for example, are aimed at cord cutters.
I wish these would be available for cord cutters as a stand alone subscription.

As long as cord cutters can guarantee to the networks that profits will stay the same or increase. Otherwise they will not support a la carte

Just seems antiquated to me. To me people should be able to pay for channels either individually or as a group. All these cable/satellite providers charging X dollars for a whole bunch of channels you'll never watch seems very outdated. Pay per channel seems to make much more sense. If I literally want one channel I should be able to pay for and get only that one channel.

That would work if everyone is willing to pay massive amounts for each channel. CBS and their $5 will seem cheap if we had full a la cart.

Well it's their loss, they are not getting any revenue from cord cutters like me, from where I stand at least some revenue to no revenue is better. I think the good old days of extortionate profiteering are over.

Even If you use an antenna, they are still making money. Fact is as long as you are using legal methods..... They are making money.

Somebody thought it would be fun to blow them up and that's what they did and I do not know why they felt that way and they filmed it when they done it they said they were going to send it to Apple
