I voted this negative....
For starters, I think it's lame to re-design the "special U2 edition" iPod, vs. releasing an iPod with a different artist on it instead. I mean, what's the huge deal with U2? Is Bono giving financial kickbacks to Apple that we don't know about?
Second, I never liked the U2 iPod in the first place. I was actually a big U2 fan a long time ago - but their recent stuff is too much like all the other "old guard" rock bands out there. They're still trying to generate some income off the glory of their past. The Eagles? The Rolling Stones? The Who? All going on tours in the next year or so, or have new albums coming out - and in each case, will never again produce a song with the impact and relevance of the work they did earlier that made them great.
I don't think a cutting edge, "think different" Apple music playing device should be closely tied into this type of music. (Apple's advertising people don't seem to really think so either, judging by the music selections they pick to go with the iPod commercials.) I'd expect iPod to be synonymous with exploring new tracks from up-and-coming artists, indie labels, and so on.
