You'd think if Amphenol were that successful, they could afford a better website.
I'm guessing you don't know much about Amphenol (known as "Amp" to generations, and I do mean generations, of hardware buyers).

Amp makes components, arguably the finest connectors and connector tools available. They are not interested in selling to consumers -- they sell to distributors and manufacturers. Buyers like that don't really care how cool a website is.

I´d say they officially beat Apple with new and better design. This thing is damn sexy:

Macs say "bong" when you start them up.

This says "bling" all the time.

less talky...more releasey. Too long for an update. Might as well wait for the G5..(not joking) The whole point of going to intel chips was to have more frequent updates

I mean lets face it, from design point of view windows oem has a very hard battle to do between dells xps surface book and hp spectre
One is looking ok close (hp spectre) but like a purse rather than a laptop, other looks ok open (dell xps) and the surface book looks ok closed and opened but not from the side.
The macbook looks ok from any angle and feel strong, closed , the hi ge mechanism the display doesnt wabble so much like a TOUCHSCREEN one from surface book, so i dont get it, apple is makeki g a better display mechanism and is not touch but those who are from the beginning wants to build a touch laptop makes it worse.
Oh i forgot to say, when you introduce a usb-c cable into the spectre back, it is not sturdy it moves left to right a little. I was given the answer that the final product will not have this issue...wtf

Funny isn't it that this forum constantly bemoans apple and its thinness obsession when lo and behold Amazon have just made their Kindle the thinnest ever and all the current tV manufacturers are obsessed too...

Did reducing the size of the Kindle and TVs compromise on performance and usability?

This is what people are getting fed up off - sacrificing performance for thinness.

Thinness for the sake of thinness is going to kill the MacBook Pro.

Ivy must've been a chubby kid to be so obsessed with thinness.

Apple will continue to make thinner MacBooks. The first year a product is made thinner it's expensive.

The subsequent years it's cheaper to make because it takes less material to make a thinner product.

Plus, deep down, people love thinner products ;)

great, an anorexia macbook in rose gold - thinner, less power, no real innovations, but glamorous and expensive - thanx tim!!! (i miss steve and scott!)

The MacBook takes leaps and bounds to ever thinner frames and the MacBook Air with its crummy screen stays the same. I'm so confused.

Perhaps they'll juggle around branding (less likely in my mind) or maybe this new ultra thin product is the next MacBook Air?

I don't mind innovation making laptops more thin.

However, there are so many areas they could innovate, like wireless charging! Especially when they removed the awesome magnet charging port (Magsafe)

I've been thinking along these lines for a while, but might go a little farther and say that it's a three notebook lineup. The release of the 12, to me, suggested that it might be possible to satisfy demand for everything from a super thin and light MacBook all the way up to an oversized Pro with a single lineup. All MBPs, perhaps all simply labeled MacBook, 12, 14, 16-17. And that's it.
Possible but not likely given Apple current/old dual strategy of having two segments: pro and consumer

But they definitely need a new lineup to continue to attract new buyers and cater to the millions of MacBook users that want to upgrade 4-6 yr old laptops

Even though thinner usually means less battery, it also reduces weight and is an evident sign of technological progress and innovation. If Apple had conceded to the complaining, we'd have an iPhone 6S Plus that is as thick as a 4S and literally resemble and weigh close enough to a real brick

If they mess up the Macbook Pro I'm literally going to cry. I do not want to go back to PC. They're ****ing thin enough. We don't need sheets of paper.

(But not an Apple desktop.)
Some of us require portable computing power. This is one of the reasons macbook pros are so popular and overtook windows machines in a lot of applications (especially music). I'm not toting a desktop around to do shows.

Thinner is always great, BUT when it starts to compromise performance power and battery life, it begins to result in diminishing/negative returns. Unfortunately, this is the direction it is headed.

I'm trying to squeeze every last drop of life out of my 2007 MBP (and what a great servant it's been).

But I really need to update, was hoping to have something at WWDC, especially as I have a course to go in in late July that I'd like to use it for.

Oh, and in Space Grey, please!

Yes! I want Space Gray too!

Laughing at the idea of metal injection moulding being a new technology. I was learning about it at uni 20 years ago. Hopefully it's advanced a bit since then though, it's normally used for making shiny doorknobs (and other cheap things) that break apart easily to reveal their grey and bubbly interior. It's always been good for making shiny stuff though, because the outer layer cools really fast and smooth.

I think- though I'm not at all happy about it - that users like you who require powerful laptops - are less and less the target users for Apple's laptops! Sad but true. I was reminded of how much Apple has changed when I upgraded the memory and swapped out a spinning HD for an SSD in my wife's older Macbook Pro. Sigh. Those were the days....
