Mate, you've failed like everyone else to explain to me how I can update-update-update-update without any problems.
When did the discussion shift to me invalidating YOUR experience? Hint: It didn't. You're the one who presumed to invalidate another person's experience. Furthermore, you did it via spurious logic. In this case, you resorted to the blanket generalization that these issues are the fault of the user; namely, that they are the result of installing malicious or unstable ware. I pointed out the flaw in your logic by citing my own experience.
5 years of Mac goodness, and not a single problem. How the bloody hell is that possible? do I have divine update luck on my side or something?
I'm glad that your Mac experience has been outstanding. I can understand your continued desire to use their products. I wish I could say the same, but I've had the opposite experience. Furthermore, my experience isn't the result of some malicious 3rd party ware or the ignorant tinkerings of a computer noob. The fault falls squarely on Apple in my case, both in terms of defective hardware and an dodgy OS.
Am I the exception? Perhaps. I'm privy to the consumer satisfaction numbers and rankings. But my experience has been so bad that its soured me on the Apple brand for good. It has fallen woefully short of my expectations and all of the grandiose marketing slogans. In my case, the Apple premium has turned out to be a sunk cost. As such, I can't recommend their products to anyone based on my own experience. But I always encourage everyone to do their own research. YMMV.
Once my CrapBook peters out for good, then my money will be spent on a Lenovo, on which I will gladly toss a Linux distro. That set-up suits my needs fine and will offer me a consistent, safe and satisfactory experience.
