That's why we have technology. They can do tasks for us that takes too long, or that we can't do. If I want to task switch between 5 apps, is iOS making my life easier? Or are they just only allowing me to perform a task on the active screen? Backward tech, if you ask me.

How about you just buy what you need the first time? If you believe people are competent enough to use removable sd cards with a fragmented storage system, then certainly they are smart enough to just pick the right iPad the first time.

Because needs evolve. Storage demands seem to only grow over time. Movie files get bigger. Years ago we could only shoot & watch SD on Apple devices, then 720p, now 1080p and soon 4K. Each of those advances begs for more available storage. Retina requires bigger apps to also serve up Retina assets. Etc. Apple's development choices are pressing for more on-board storage. Even they recognize this else why roll out the 128GB iPad?

Sure I can buy what I need today but tomorrow, I'll need more. An SD slot would make it possible for storage to evolve with need (run into the next storage wall and cheaply move the wall with a bigger capacity SD card). No SD slot means throw out the perfectly fine iDevice and have to replace it with an entirely new iDevice if one doesn't want to abandon the iDevice platform. I wouldn't, so I can see a lot of utility in some of us getting an OPTION (not forced on everyone) to evolve our storage with our evolving needs.

Microsoft should really take a page from the old Mastercard commercials....you recall the ones that stated "Be sure to take along your MasterCard, because they don't take American Express."

Point was then that MC had absolutely zero way to compete against the far more dominant Visa, but they could chip away at Amex's cardholders much more easily. So they started cannibalizing the number three player while not competing against the number one player, where head-to-head marketing costs would have killed them.

Microsoft hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of competing with Apple in the tablet space. Not now at least. But in an overcrowded Android-powered tablet market, they have some brand-name recognition that gives them a "safer" market positioning than someone buying a Huwaieewowzy Tablet from Toy's R Us (Now with more Android!).

Too bad Microsoft has idiots in charge of their marketing efforts. Just look at the utter lack of category management in their solutions and you'll see they don't get it with tablets either.

I liked the ad. People are forgetting that competition is good for everyone.

As far as I am aware, iOS can only download apps, and play music in the background. Whoop-ti-doo, I'm getting great use out of this tech, and its making my life easier.

And it shows companies are always a step behind Apple when it comes to advertising.

Nobody cares who was first when they reach for their wallet. Seriously, why should they? Like Apple invented honesty. LOL!

Dear oh dear. Oh, and the swipes on the Win8 tablet doesn't show anything functionally useful apart from making the Metro bigger/smaller. Woah.
Yep. It doesn't take much to get people frothing at the mouth here.

Attention folks: Competing products and pressure on Apple is good for you. Save your misplaced emotions for important things :)

This is like throwing a bird into a lake and saying "haha, it can't swim, therefore it's ****". Well, it can fly instead.

It's even funnier when you realize that we live in a world were most people prefer "flying" to "swimming". Then it looks like a tv commercial selling pickup-trucks to pebbles on the beach. Good luck making a sale.

Microsoft's new slogan should be "We make solutions for problems that we hope exist."

"I don't need it therefore nobody else does"?

An SD card slot would be incredibly useful in an iPad.

It's obvious why Apple wouldn't allow it, but you don't think it would be a good idea to be able to load some of your apps, or music, or a pile of movies, onto an SD card for a long trip? Or pop the card out of your camera to load up the photos into iPhoto (without the need for the third piece of hardware, the Camera Connection Kit)? Or load up Office documents to read and edit?

Useful yes, but Apple argues that it creates a security issue it's not willing to face.

Microsoft should really take a page from the old Mastercard commercials....you recall the ones that stated "Be sure to take along your MasterCard, because they don't take American Express."
But the question would be, why should I take a long a Mastercard if I already have a Visa for ubiquity and an Amex for lounge access and other perks?

The point I'm trying to make is, what would I gain from a Windows tablet if I already had an iPad? If I wanted to try another alternative in addition to an iPad, I could go with a more well known Android model and gain some of the functionality that Microsoft is touting while still having access to more tablet specific apps than Microsoft offers.

Don't get me wrong, I have no interest in an Android tablet but if I was going to pick between the two for a secondary tablet, I would probably go with a Samsung Android tablet instead of a windows RT tablet because I would still have access to more apps to choose from than with RT.

Unfortunately, the credit card analogy does not really work very well because Apple not only has the tablet marketshare but the majority of the perks and extras that most people care about. Their media markets are available in far more countries around the world than the Android markets from either Google or Amazon.

They should have added a USB stick to the mix, and said "how the **** do -you- get files to other places?" And iPad could have replied "iCloud". Double whammy, right there, but instead they use homescreen zoom, which is not exactly killer, as has been covered. USB access is what sets the RT tablet apart from iPad for me, so much easier to actually do things.

Also a shame they don't use their own damn tablet here! I guess they have obligations to OEMs, and maybe better ads are forthcoming for Surface :D.

Maybe they have taken this too far now. The first ads were funny, now its just desperation.

A Known "Dead Dog"

Everybody from Wall Street to anyone at all tech savvy and just mainstream America knows the Microsoft tablet is inferior to the iPad. Watch! It'll be given away by 2014. :D

You get what you pay for!

The RT version is still questionable while the full OS tablet based Windows 8 OS is much better. iPad could use some type of SD card reader as many people do use cameras. These days I just use dropbox and my iPhone however that is me and that was not until the last few months.

They just pissed off every iPad/Apple loyalist... The exact crowd they are advertising too, because everyone else owns a Samsung tablet and that market is too small. ;)

Desperation is a stinky cologne.
