Yeah, going to a store and using Apple Pay. I’ve pulled my mask down once or twice ..or more.
Why not use the passcode instead?
I have a serious question: what does the MTA expect Apple to do? Do they want Apple to create a FaceID that takes the mask into account? Not going to happen, as there's no standard for masks.
It's somewhat amusing to me that the amazing technology behind FaceID has been thwarted by a virus. I'm curious whether Apple knew that it could be a problem, since much of the population of Asia has been regularly wearing masks for years.
Isn’t that the City of New York’s job?
I’m sure this is an almost uniquely (US) American problem. What a lazy society who can’t either type in a password or remove mask temporarily to unlock.
Just put the mask back on after unlocking.
Inconvenient, yes. But it’s the new reality until a vaccine comes to fruition.
yes i should. i dont mean to be an ******, i just get flustered easily, especially when there is a long line. Why not use the passcode instead?
No one has anything to lose wearing one. There is no credible scientific evidence anyone with a medical condition "cant breath" or the other nonsense claim
It's so quick now that its not worth it. By the time I think "Oh I should use the passcode" the touch pad is displayingThis whole thing is kind of dumb but it could probably be solved by just bringing up the passcode interface alongside the Face ID interface immediately.
But then you need to remove your cool rad motor gloves!I've been saying that FaceID was a flawed solution for sometime. I'm a motocyclist and having to remove my helmet (complete with BT microphone/speakers) to use FaceID is silly.
TouchID is far easier for people who have to wear face coverings.
The solution is to make phones that have both.
Order the Homer Simpson dialing wandSo my only issue with all this, and this may just be me and my phone for some reason, is whenever I enter my 6 digit code I will type it out and the damn interface only understands like 60% of my key presses so I have to re-enter it again just very slowly. Like every time. Does this happen to anyone else?
What you have just suggested is one of the reasons why this mask wearing idea is only intelligent if done correctly. Once a mask is removed or lowered it should be replaced by a new one. I see many idiots on news reports wearing the mask under their chin when speaking or walking around. Or they hold in in one hand or put it in a pocket for a while. Not correct. What a lazy society who can’t either type in a password or remove mask temporarily to unlock.

Obviously Touch ID coming back would help, but that would depend on hundreds of millions of users buying a new expensive phone.
Yes, but how many of those are the latest and most expensive? iPhone 11 Pro probably only accounted for a quarter of all sales.Fortunately, Apple sells 200 million iPhones a year.

lol so Apple should solve every COVID subway and transit problem in the world? lol come on! I'm surprised the TTC isn't the one saying this. "Hey, we can't get our riders to practice safe distancing. Better call Apple!"
