They need to pass laws making the publishers of this kind of training for exploits liable for damages. That would prevent it being promoted in the mass media. There are millions of people who use that feature for possible business purposes and if use of this exploit was limited to the two devices that reported and required a very odd step to implement, one that 5 public betas did not surface, then its reasonable not to shutdown the whole network. The reason they don’t talk about bugs they are working to fix is because the more people that know about it the more likely it will be used. Especially when there is a video being show on television teaching the masses how to do it. That is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever seen. It’s someone going on TV and saying there’s a flaw with 2019 Camrys. If you pull on the handle 3 times it will unlock and start the car.

Maybe we will finally get a decent way to report and track bugs.
Have you used the Radar system? It’s pretty good. It’s open for ANYONE to use with an Apple ID.

On iOS, just type rdar:// into Safari. This will not work on macOS.

Seriously...it’s not a hard system to use...

Has nobody on this board ever worked in tech support? Somebody calling an entry-level help desk worker with a "bug" is 99% of the time somebody who doesn't know how to work their device. For this to go from that initial call all the way to the top of a company with over 100,000 employees in only a week has to be a new record in speed. Typical that people want everything immediately:

Of course. I’m a developer. It is a terrible system. You cant track bugs. Bugs are randomly marked as duplicate and then you get no follow up. They always ask for more information even when you already give them the information you are asking for. It’s probably the worst bug reporting system I’ve used, and I’ve been coding for many decades.

Must be some hand of Samsung in invading this bug....Apple now time to hire good testers and In the meantime please please stop innovating - you guys just cant do it anymore.

I have a lot of criticisms of Apple, but their response to the Group FaceTime bug is not one of them. I don't know what the Governor's office is looking to gain from this... but they're looking to gain something. o_O Government officials generally don't get off their asses unless there is something in it for them.
The primary duty of the Attorney General of New York is to attract publicity to support a future run for Governor.

Randomly...? There’s a reason for it. May have been reported before you.

More info...? To ensure consistency?

Worst system huh? I can’t believe that.

Look at your alternatives.

At least Apple tries to keep your data safe yours, private, and secure. Mistakes happen.

Look at Google and Facebook. They have no shame in collecting your data, with or without your knowledge. The difference is, Apple didn't do this on purpose. I still think someone should be fired at Apple for this, but it's not company policy to record what you do as it is with Android.

Basically, Apple is the best we have for privacy and security...and it isn't close, mistakes and all.
There’s a video of 20 codes you can type into phones to do different functions. One that stood out to me was one for Android only that allowed you to play back the last 20 conversations.

Whatever. The fact that after filing a bug you have no way to track it is reason enough to name it the worst ever.
Uh you can easily track it...
Obviously this isn’t supposed to be posted because it’s internal info but if this isn’t a way to track your reports I don’t know what you’re referring to.

Did you miss the part about the receiving party silencing the call starting the video feed too?

How long would you really let a phone call ring on silent before you just hung up? You can’t use your phone at that time.

Also when the camera turned on the mic got silenced. Most realistic scenario is FaceTime call comes in, you hit silence, phone gets placed back in pocket, or flat on a desk.... or you just hang up.

It's as if elected officials all think that they've been granted summa potestas. Sorry fellas, but no one is above the law. No one.

Oh the big bag profitable company who charges a lot cause they don't sell your info for profit and charges upfront are being investigated lol

Android is free ... yeah.. "free" businesses need to make money, there are no charities.

If you have developed any kind of software, this does not look like a bug. Why was there an option to remotely enable the microphone?

Wouldn’t the system enable it when the “call accepted” response was sent back to the FaceTime servers? It shouldn’t be enabled until that green button is pressed.

I think this thing is completely overblown. You have to set up a GROUP FaceTime call then PURPOSELY add your own number. And this only lasts as long as it takes for the other party to pick up the call or for the call to go to voicemail. This is TOTALLY overblown.

Um. No. You could listen in endlessly with the right combo of button presses. The only thing overblown here is your confidence in your own ability to read.

Clicking that green button likely adds yourself to the room, and the call is answered. Adding yourself to the call likely did the same thing as clicking the green button.
