As soon as half of the Android phones around the world are made subject to a malicious application due to their lack of an approval process, Apple's structured setup won't look so bad after all.

Does anyone think that iTunes will ever change it's name?

It's clearly a battle between "A name that has become extremely misleading" vs. "The value of the (misleading) brand name"

Not a good article

I read that article and I wasn't really impressed with it.

There are a lot of great things about the App Store but still a lot of things that need to be worked out, and it doesn't seem Apple is doing a good job of fixing the problem

"MacRumors" has the same problem, as a matter of fact. Based on the importance of brand-name recognition I'd say no to your question.

Right! Android is not any more secure than any other phone. The only reason we haven't seen any viruses yet is because there aren't enough users to catch the interest of hackers. The Android market share is just too small.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Those of you who have read the article I wrote (linked below) will recognize that as a fine bit of sarcasm.

Yeah, sadly iTunes has become a serious misnomer. And iPhone was a serious misnomer from the start (and a horrible name anyway).

Can we drop the iStuff nomenclature already?

That said, I prefer the name "iTunes" to "Zune Marketplace," whatever Zune is supposed to mean.

"be carried around in a customer's pocket is just exploding."

One would think that Apple executives would refrain from mentioning "exploding" and "in a customer's pocket" while talking about company products.

I agree. I started reading it online yesterday but I realized it was a major puff piece before I even completed page two. I didn't bother to finish reading the article. 9to5mac.com's headline about the article was hilarious.

Yeah i cracked up when I saw it myself:

"Apple Takes out 3,000 word ad on the front page of the Sunday NY Times Biz section"

Im glad theyre experiencing such success but the 100k apps means nothing to me anymore. I stop downloading new apps a while back. Improving the existing functionality would be a more alluring feature.

This comes on the heels...

This review comes on the heels of their blockbuster expose on the TRS-80 Model III from last week. News at Internet speed -- woohoo!
