I think it is just logical that the MBA with its cpu and design is bound to be sensitive to medium demanding tasks, causing fans to go on higher rpms. But one certainly does not want the fans to ramp up to highest speed when watching a movie. It seems you gamble a bit when buying a MBA. A slighly bad thermal paste application might be all what is needed to make this laptop a pain.

The simple style of this notebook computer is what makes it so attractive. If you require the power of a MBP then don't waste your time trying to force the Air to do more than it is capable. Accept this and move on.

Problem lies in that you are HOOKED on the sexiness of the Air and SEX sells!!!

There. Wasn't that nice & simple? :D

True words.

How though to resolve paragraph 1 and paragraph 2. An insolvable dilemma.

for those who have exchanged their airs, what's better.. in store or over the phone? i'm having problems and will have to exchange mine.

We need to discuss this in humane terms: ;)

It's like a marriage--- there's some things you love and some things you hate! A sexy looking MBA that performs less than desired... well, it depends on how much *lack* that sexiness will allow you to live with  I don't have many requirements for my MBA so that's probably why I'm satisfied. If I did, and the *lack* was not tolerable--- I'd not waste time with it and move on to the MBP. It's frustrating to have a sexy wife (or husband) that cheats. Better to dump em and move on... :p (Much easier said than done, I might add).

I didn't try over the phone, but when i went to the store i was in and out in a matter of 15 minutes with a brand new MBA. They gave me only the laptop(No accessories) since i only took the laptop. A++ service in Apple Store of Long ISland

what was wrong with yours? my screen is somewhat loose and i have the overheating problem, but applecare didn't care. anyone know how to prove you have the overheating problem since it doesn't happen instantly like when they would check?

I have a week 7 and it's a piece of crap. I am calling apple tomorrow for a return. Worthless piece of junk. I've had it.

No (Windows) PC have issues like these, ever.

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Yeah, Dell laptops almost probably never break. Build quality is out of this world

Come on, this is my first mac in years- and the MBA is best laptop I've ever used!

Never had any similar issues with a pc laptop/notebk?

Thats entertainment!

WOW are you very very mistaken. You should be a PC tech for 10 years like me and then make your judgement. PCs break waaaay more then macs ever will.

Just to voice the dissenting opinion - especially since I am considering switching back to an MBP - the Air sure is nice when travelling.

I'm sitting in the Panera in Atlanta airport waiting for my connection right now, and it's awfully nice to lug around two and a half less pounds :) I have to say that when I am on the road I tend to forget the MBA's warts that are so clear when I am at my office.

If you want small and portable get an eeePC. Those are amazing for travel.

Mine was networking issues, so i guess that is more of a concrete problem to prove.

mine meets my needs and probably the needs of most non-tech savvy users. hell I wouldn't even know about this place if I were not partnered to a geek.

So I can surf the net, watch videos, read email, edit my pics, listen to music and work on documents. It's about all I use a computer for, it's about all the majority of people so with computers.

Now, on the other hand, it's in the shop due to a stuck mouse. Well they fixed the stuck mouse but then they had a non-working mouse.

Everything else is just dandy.

Even with this, I am really glad to be done with PCs, Windows, taking forever to boot, constantly needing to do virus sweeps, etc. Really, really glad.
