i know this topic may have come up a million times but hear me out....please.

i the other day bought the Xbox one bundle with Fifa 16 as I wanted to own a next gen console. I have previously had playstation's but went for the xbox this time as I just wanted to try something different.

The games I play are mostly the generic ones that are available on both consoles such as Fifa, GTA, Call of Duty etc...but having read some threads on here I am worried I made the wrong choice....

I am reading how the PS4 has better graphics, will be the better console in the long term and the xbox one basically isn't really a match for it.

Do you think I should take the xbox one back and trade it for a PS4? I am still within the 30 day period where I can return it for a swap or something or am I being silly? I know you may say you should have thought about this before you purchased the xbox one....but i didn't really put that much thought in to it.

Couldn't be further from the truth. I would honestly dislike to own a PS4, and that's because I truly feel and think that the Xbox One is the better console, and here's why -

- it has a a far superior online infrastructure. The number of dedicated servers and data centers running for the Xbox One is not two, not three, but SIX times that of the PS4. 300,000 vs 50,000.

- the controller is so incredibly well designed and the attention to detail is as if Apple made it. It feels like a luxurious instrument rather a game controller. The thumb sticks, buttons, and triggers are all significantly more well thought out design and build wise vs the DS4, it's a thing of beauty. That, plus it just feels way better IMO. No competition there.

- the console hardware itself is much better in terms of design. The cooling system especially is leagues better, with a huge central fan cs the dinky little hair dryer in the PS4. It's a far more elegant and understated design IMO, as well.

- multimedia capabilities crushes the PS4.

- you can add up 12 terabytes (yes you read that right) of external storage, which you can't do on the ps4.

- in terms of performance the Xbox One had the better CPU and OS, and with devs now getting used to the ESRAM on the Xbox Ones GPU they're saying it's more or less just as fast and powerful as the PS4. Plus directx12 is being said to bring a huge performance improvement vs the already fantastic performance of the One.

- security, Sony sucks at this. You're account isn't nearly as secure as in Xbox. This alone as a big factor in my decision making. There's a story of a guy who got hacked and lost hundreds if not thousands of dollars (it was a lot, can't remember specifically) and Sony threatened HIM if he went to the bank about it. Seriously Sony?

- exclusives exclusives exclusives

Oh, and backwards compatibility doesn't hurt, either.

In conclusion, I think you made the right choice man and I'd stick with it. Happy gaming!

Both are great consoles, you can't go wrong.

Check the exclusive titles for both systems and see which ones appeal to you more. Also check which system your friends have in case you want to play some online matches. These should be your only deciding factors.

Yeah OP... I'm with TP here. The two are so close as far as specs and resolution that in normal usage you really won't notice the difference. Just stick with the one that has the games you like.

What the above guys said is the truth. Pick your console based on the games you want to play, not the 5% difference in CPU power.

Hey, I was merely pointing out the PS4 isn't the all that more powerful of a console that some delusional fanboys would like you to believe, and he seems to have been convinced that was the case, that make sense? The Xbox One has an edge in terms of performance in a few key areas, CPU power being one of them.

He wanted facts and reasons to be happy with his purchase and I supplied them.

I echo what everyone else is saying here as well though, see what games you want and which console has them, of course that's important.

That, and whichever console your friends has is huge too.

What should and shouldn't be isn't up to you, only him. The controller is very important, unless you're fine playing Fallout on an Atari pad. An extreme example, but still a factor.

What about backwards comp? To some that's all the reason right there.

To dismiss what I said because you feel like I offended your console is silly, I wasn't saying the Ps4 is trash, but it isn't the holy grail console some fanboys want you to believe. I was providing him with the other viewpoint and truth vs what he appears to have read elsewhere.

Ultimately what I was trying to get across, though I see how I may have sounded a little one sided. All I'm saying is the Xbox One is a fantastic console, and if I was given the choice I'd choose it, personally, because of the reasons I listed above.

most of the games i play are Multiplatform games

The PS4 has better specs and outputs games frequently at a higher resolution and/or with a smoother framerate than the Xbox. But you should buy a system based on the games you want and with the features you want.

Do you want/own a Vita so you can play your PS4 games anywhere?
Do you have any PS3 games that support cross-buy with the PS4, you might already have games for free.
Are there more exclusive games on Sony platforms you like?
Get the PS4.

Do you want to stream games to a Windows 10 system?
Are there more exclusive games on the Xbox you like?
Stick with the Xbox.

(Personally I'd go with a Wii U at this point, heh. The Xbox is the only system I don't have but I don't feel an urge to get one whilst owning a PS4)

Yeah, that and with the other capabilities it has over the competition I personally feel like it's the best one to go with right now. As Dagless mentioned some multiplats right slightly better on PS4, while others incidentally actually run better on the Xbox One, such as Black Ops 3, the Handsome Collection for Borderlands and I believe so did the Battlfromt beta. In terms of graphics you won't notice a difference.

So what it would come down to would be what consoles do your friends have? Do you like the Xbox controller or PS4 controller better? Do you use your console for anything besides gaming?

I'd stick with the One, but it's ultimately up to you.

Heh I was wanting a WiiU so bad, especially with the rumors of the Twighlight Princess getting an HD remake. I just don't have the funds at the moment. It is an excellent console though. And like yourself I feel no need to get a PS4 with an Xbox One, but the WiiU seems to be that one console that's worth it no matter what platform you primarily play on.

The Xbox One generally has been the primary console for sports titles (though I don't play any), so it sounds like it suites your preferences. Either one would work fine, but if you're enjoying the One then there you go. Enjoy!

From what you have said here, you seem happy with the games available on the Xbox, so I see no compelling reason to switch.

Both have their fans, but honestly the two consoles are more alike than not.

Enjoy your Xbox.

Hmm maybe you're right....just so many people were saying take it back and get the PS4

If you play games available on both consoles then it becomes a matter of how the controller feels and which online system you'd rather be on.

Watching the many YouTube videos people have posted showing the PS4 vs XBox One graphics during games, I can't tell the difference at all...

I have always had Xbox's, but got a PS4 as my daughter wanted to play Little Big Planet.

Really thinking I might get an Xbox one for Halo 5 and just have both!

There's nothing wrong with the PS4, but everything seems wrong to my Xbox brain.

Same as well...
just went to my buddy's house today and played one game of FIFA 16 on his PS4. Couldn't see any difference at all to the xbox I have at home but maybe I'm not the best at spotting things

Why would you care then? o_O

hmmm maybe
30 day period coming so after that stuck with xbox unless i sell it and buy a ps4
It really sounds as if you've already convinved yourself, in contrast to all the same sounding advice you've gotten in this thread: Buy the console for the games you want to play.
