Looking forward to these, though a late in the year release is looking more and more likely at the moment

The new 16 inch MacBook Pro may come out but probably not the 14 inch MacBook Pro.
In your fantasy world this may happen, but in the real world a 16 and 14 will come out later this year.

16’’, Face ID, borderless, wifi 6E, detachable screen that become iPad Pro, 120Hz mini led touch screen, variable refresh rate

all these or no buy 😊
Your grandkids could still be waiting on that piece of kit!

---------------

That render of the new machine really makes it look ugly. Hopefully it'll be a bit nicer looking than that.

I can't believe it seems like we have to wait until last quarter of 21 to get these machines. And because of that, I think people may get a bit antsy if it doesn't have FaceID and 120 variable refresh. Had it released now without those, fair enough, but later in the year without those two things will be a little deflating. Although if FaceID means no TouchID it could be problematic because of mask wearing.

Personally (selfishly!) I just want USB A and not HDMI n SD Card. If they are gonna add those two, just go the full monty.

It depends how Apple price the new models. Cost is still the number one factor for most people when choosing a laptop.

more megapixels doesn’t mean it’ll look better. actually would perform worse since each pixel receives less light assuming the same sensor size.
the 4k Logitech webcam is amazing. Stunning picture and sound quality which meets modern home office and zoom calls standards. HDR and more features make you look fantastic. Apple is always the last to adopt tho.

I will be VERY annoyed if Apple backtracks and puts two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports and two USB-A ports on the new M-series MBP machines. This is an all-USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 household and on my (Intel) 2018 MBP I frequently use two of my four USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports to transfer data from one external SSD to another. I don't need and don't want any stupid USB-A ports now. For me, they're history. That said, if Apple puts in just one of them, OK, fine, that should keep some people happy, but please, not two.

As far as an SD card port, I don't need that either, since I use an SD card reader for transferring all of the files shot on my digital cameras to the computer. I also don't need an HDMI port since I have an LG 4K Thunderbolt 3 display plugged into my 2018 machine, which powers both devices.

I do realize, though, that others have different needs and desires and that Apple is trying to satisfy everyone and keep everybody happy with their next offerings.....

I am in for a redesigned 15” Laptop with the new processors. My 2015 is showing its age, yet is still a solid piece of tech. Just never been too into the touch bar as it is, hoping to see some solid updates to the chassis and perhaps an attempt at innovation similar to when they introduced backlit keyboards.

Granted, innovation may be an ask, but we can always hope.

120 Hz, Face ID, 5G. If it doesn't have these then it's sad. It's a shame the iPad Pro is more ahead of the curve than the MacBook Pro with a lesser OS.

I wouldn’t say Q1 “encompassed” M1 Macs — these weren’t released until late November. But despite this, it was still a good number — so 2021 should be much better, especially with a redesigned iMac. I think this new iMac could drive many PC users to reconsider the Mac more than any previous year.

They’re not wrong, i want one of those new processors so bad. Cant wait for the refresh of the 13” MBP. I can finally play games without my laptop getting hot. I am literally praying they do them in the same colours as the AirPods max. Pink MBP would be killer.

If the rumors are true, especially the ports and removal of the Touch Bar, I’m all in for the 16 specced nicely. Waiting!
I am so with you.. I am ready for the removal of the touch bar, magsafe's return.. and some ports and sd card reader... i will definitely get rid of my current 16" mbp

It seems I am one of just the few who will definitely miss touchbar.
I find it very usefull for music controls and text styling. For me this is a step back.
As was the new Magic Keyboard (again, for me) step back from slim butterfly keyboard.
And thats just because Apple couldnt find a way to fix butterfly keyboard in 4th gen.
I hate my MBP16 keyboard, this laptop feels cheaper in every single way, compared to previous MBP15 19' touchbar.
Unpopular opinion: I hope butterfly and touchbar come back some day :)
you are the only one i've heard of so far ;) sorry you feel this way.. the music controls that were actual buttons were MUCH quicker for me, personally. text styling i primarily use keyboard shortcuts again just because using the touch bar was a long time.

i am not super keyboard sensitive, but I don't type a lot beyond developing, but sorry you are gonna be missing all these things.. but at least for me, I am stoked. :D

the 4k Logitech webcam is amazing. Stunning picture and sound quality which meets modern home office and zoom calls standards. HDR and more features make you look fantastic. Apple is always the last to adopt tho.

logitech 4k webcam is much thicker than the MacBook display. it's physically impossible to get that same quality stuck inside a MacBook display.

why is everyone after 16'' version? wouldn't this size reduce portability? Or is there any other reason to go after 16'' on?
The assumption is that with reduced bezels, the larger screen will fit in about the same size case as the 15”. I’m using a 13” but know that lots of people need the larger screen.

Yes, I'd have liked an AS 2015 MBP with 2 USB-C ports added. Best laptop design ever. I'll probably settle for having HDMI at least.
Off-topic, do you by chance have an M139 or M138?

Exactly, they really didnt need to make it thinner. And by doing this, the usb-a ports didnt fit anymore and the laptops overal got more problems with heat because of the smaller chassis.

And no, the M139 (Sport GT S) is literally my favorite car ever, but I'm debating on wether to get that or a GranTurismo.
How about you?

I have a 2015MBP if I could upgrade the the processor to M1, and upgrade the screen I would honestly do it perfect machine.

Yep, same. I got mine when the new 2016 ones came out. I got disappoined when they adbandoned all the useful ports and got the maxed out 2015 one so it would last me for a while. It's still going strong, but I do need a newer and faster one for work.

So if this new MacBook Pro is anything close to the rumors, it's a instant buy from me. And also that new rumored Thunderbolt display successor. Hopefully that isn't priced like the XDR one.

Love my M1, will definitely take a look at the new models at Best But, but my eyes are set on a 32 inch iMac monster next year, hopefully with Face ID.

How about six Thunderbolt/USB-C ports instead of an HDMI port. And definitely add the SD card reader.
