The thing about high-DPI screens is that it needs high-DPI source. If your iMac has a resolution of 1920(x2) by 1080(x2), that's a lot of dots per inch.
Um....either you don't know what dpi means, or you are expecting a 1" tall screen on the next iMac?
2012 MacBook Pros will get Retina OLED displays.

Made out of retinas?
Isn't that always the problem? Windows Media Center will do what you want - but you have to tell it what you want. Apple stuff, on the other hand, tells you what you want. No setup, but no option to tell it that you don't want the default.
Did someone tell you that? I mean, we all know you would never touch a Mac, so I always wonder how you can discuss how they work. Ooh, maybe looking over a low-end user's shoulder? You know, the kind that don't actually learn anything about their computer?
If this will run on an iMac then it will run on a Mac Mini that I can plug into the TV I already own. I could run the touch interface from my iPad or iPhone "remote" Why would I want to by a new TV?
You can already do this if you want. I do all of that except the touchscreen remote, since I prefer tactile buttons.

In Switzerland, if you own a device capable of giving an authentic TV experience, you have to pay additional TV taxes. It's no joke. you don't even neet to use the device: If you own it, you just have to pay. So why would we wanna want a TV tuner in a Mac?

Although this is random speculation, it's interesting to remember Apple have removed front row capabilities from lion. Whether they intend to start charging for it in the App store, or it's just due for a major overhaul, who knows!

Same in the Uk. Even if you watch pre recorded content on say the BBC iPlayer you need a TV license.

Who cares. Until it has a matte screen I won't be upgrading.

I'm running Snow Leopard on my Core 2 Duo iMac and will remain that way until it dies and can't be fixed - at which point I'll likely switch to Linux.

There has been some work done to enable Front Row in Lion:

Screen

A little bit of a bigger screen would be nice.....hope it comes in the first half of this year......wonder when the next OS x will be out too.....

Sony has been selling 24" All-in-one PC/TV for the last 3 years at least.

It has an Windows Media Center software, HDTV tuner, Bluray player/burn, HDMI in/out, DVR, webcam, remote, wireless keyboard/trackpad/mouse and wall mount option.

There is a rumor about new 32" version to be shown on CE expo in Vegas next month.

Looks like a **** version of another well known All in one.

Any windows PC can do this. Its nothing new and has been available for years with a TV tuner card installed. My Packard Bell I bought about 6 years ago was capable of this (even thought it didn't have a bluray player)

Why the analyst hate?

You're not going to get any interesting forward-looking statements or speculation from any Apple employees - that would instantly make them former employees - which leaves you with informed industry spectators - aka analysts.

Analysts aren't psychic - so learn take their input with a grain of salt...
