Free upgrade maybe for new Iphone

New phone in January...Apples/ATT response when this is verified...

You get to upgrade to Iphone 5?? with no costs/penalty if you bought your Iphone 4 before September 30th!

Ha...you never know, could be a good thing..well, if you bought your phone before September 30th...

Oh you must go buy one now. Someone said once that even if a new one comes out soon, the one you buy today consider it renting, and put it on eBay - it's actually quite a cheap rent considering Apple products retain their value longer than most every other consumer product out there.

BTW, I bought one on Friday and I LOVE it! I can't stop buying or adding free apps to it, it's an incredible device, you must have one!

I think it would make a lot of users very happy if they updated twice a year as well. My contract ends in February of 2011 (My iphone hit the deck and busted the screen so I had to buy a new one mid cycle.) No way I'm going to buy an i4 when I know a new one is coming in June. I'm sure Apple has seen the drop off in sales from leading up to the next version. Sure some go out a buy a phone that is 8 months old because they may not have a choice, IE: broken, lost, or stolen. But most would want to wait given the choice...

what other hanset maker updates a particular hanset model more than annually? NONE why should Apple? Android is not one device it's an OS...just because a "new" Android powered device comes out every 2 weeks does not mean Apple needs to follow suit...
 
If something is going to happen to the iPhone in January I can only see three things:

1. Storage bump much like the 2G got a bump mid way through it's life. 32GB/64GB and 16GB discontinued.

2. iPhone finally comes to Verizon.

3. Apple removes the antenna from being part of the external band and places it elsewhere. However not a total redesign or new iP5.

Apple introduced the iP4 as the iPhone that "changes everything again." Basically referring to the original iPhone that changed the mobile phone industry. They believe that the iP4 is just as big of a game changer and it is a complete overhaul in design from the 3G/3GS. I seriously doubt they would release an iP5 so soon. Despite antennagate the iP4 is selling like hotcakes and does not seem to be slowing down. They have not even released the white iPhone yet. What new features would they include in a new iPhone so soon? Users are just discovering the new features in this one. It would also screw with their annual iPhone introduction in June just like they have become comfortable with introducing new iPods in September/October.

Of course I could be wrong.
 
I can see the iPhone rumor happening, but if it does happen it probably won't be much of an upgrade but it will be more like a redesign to get rid of the antenna issue and bad press surrounding that.

They pretty much have to make a new iPod touch, especially since the gamecenter news, since the only iPod touch it works with is the 3rd gen 32/64 bit. It sucks that technology that is still available on retail store shelves is obsolete even before you buy it (2nd gen iPod touch). 2nd gen touch owners are really getting the shaft from apple.

I haven't bought one yet so I have nothing to complain about, but I am looking very forward to what the new iPod touch will offer.

Honestly i don't think Apple gives a damn about people like you. Frankly why should they as they get your money without even trying. They know full well that you will buy their stuff even if you don't need it.
I wait outside O2 for the new iPhone 4. And for what, a phone that has signal problems and proximity sensor problems.

Now you are responding to a rumor as if it is a news release from Apple itself. Now do you see why you appear to be gullible (to be nice).

Oh by the way Apple does think you are made of money. It is in fact the whole reason any company is in business, that is to earn money from people who give it up easily. Apple has no interest in people without money to spend on their products.

The obvious question becomes why would you even do that? Really you don't need a new iPhone everytime Apple debuts one. To indicate otherwise is to suggest mental illnesss.
lets only hope that apple give its loyal customers a rebate on what thy have paid or at least let us upgrade for free.

The best thing Apple could do is keep an eye on the competition and ignore the whinny bastards complaining about new iPhones. New iPhones are a very good thing for Apple and its more rational customers.

all these sound unlikely, but honestly if they have a 7-8 inch pad coming i will buy it day of release. i haven't seen the iPad we have for 10 minutes since the wife got her hands on it.
 
Looks like the 3x3cm touch screen will be a replacement for the iPod nano, not shuffle. They are getting rid of the wheel after nearly 9 years of interface glory.

Hopefully they'll keep the old classic though, great portable hard drive.

How do you get that from this rumor?

I doubt they will discontinue it this year, but next year or the year after I suspect it will disappear as the RAM gets close to what the HDs can hold at a comparable price.

They should continue making it, but just forget about upgrading the tech and design in ANY way. It doesn't allow for much additional sales as allowed by app-running mp3 devices. Apple should be halting design and upgrade to the shuffle and nano as well to let the prices slide lower. Shuffles should be 2 gen. design and held sub-$50, Nanos should slide sub-$100, thus providing entry devices at nice prices for the kiddies. Then the real stuff is above $129 and allows lots of crazy app-movie-audio purchasing for greater earnings.

Free cases are nice

Well done. Next time try reading the article as it states that it is a mockup. Nobody ever tried to claim that it was not shopped.

i5 in January would be great, but I'll wait until more rumours come about to decide if I should wait and get an i5 or assume the rumours are wrong and get an i4.
