ipad mini:confused:doesn't think that's a good idea.7" might be too small for ebook reader

That iPhone rumor ore is r-tarted y would release a new iPhone so early they would be screwing over all the current iPhone users unless they give us a discount of som sort I would just be pissed. Like this antenna problem apple didn't have to give people cases but they did . It's a rash statement but I stick to it. So let's wait till then and we will see some new rumors and then we will see what actualy happens.

Is this English?

Apple Apple .. what are you doing?

I unfortunately have an iPhone 3GS.
Cmon guys, look at the reality:
new iPhone soon? It's just went out as the super innovation ..... how many millions of people they want piss off??I'm very disapppointed.
Before it was iPod, iPod mini, iPodshuffle, iPod touch and iPhone, all of this products may have a sense to me.
new iPad mini???What the f..ck?is it a iPod touch then?a bigger iPhone?
What the hell mister Jobs is thinking that we are all stupid?Trying to steal money to people with?
I will be happy if Apple will come back to make only computers and iPods.
As for me I will soon stop to use my iPhone.

These schoolkids have way too much free time on their hands.

You're lamentably correct. This place looks like YouTube. The forum moderators have apparently given up. Sad.

Should be even worse next summer. The ineptitude is growing at a logarithmic rate. Oh well...

Ah - Heaven forbid that a capacity bump for the iPhone comes in January. That will be a major disappointment for those who thought they would have the latest and greatest for a whole more year while they were camping in line outside the stores for the iPhone 4.

The iPod touch got 64 GB last year. This year, maybe a new release will have 128 GB, maybe it won't. But how long do you think it will take until the iPhone gets 64 GB of storage? A whole year from now is unrealistic.

Sounds logical, but it is sheer speculation. Stick to the facts you can prove.
In an Apple rumors forum?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

You are deranged if you require people to back up their speculative comments with hard facts in a RUMORS site.

If you want fact, why don't you read SEC filings? Maybe you won't find and additional truthfulness there, but at least you won't be surfing a site that has "rumors" in the URL. The primary modicum of my post was to comment that people can make "intelligent" guesses, not random B.S. shots-in-the-dark.

If you don't understand this, you need help. Desperately.

If the iPhone received a capacity bump in January 2011, I don't think that AAPL shareholders would be too upset if the action drove sales.

No.

(sigh) Here we go again.

Different people have different needs. It's not about you. It's about the general marketplace and whether or not there is a potential for serious revenue by selling tens of millions of different sized devices. I will point out right now that there have been different sized iPods, MacBooks, and iMacs for many, many years.

I would love to have a smaller (7" or 8") iPad. Note that there is an existing marketplace of people using devices of this size (eReader market).

Also, if the smaller iPad was less expensive, that would also attract more customers (the current iPad's price has been a well documented barrier to adoption by many).

Again, it's not about your usage case and convincing you buy one device. It's about millions of Joe Consumers around the globe with different ideas of what works for them.

The world doesn't revolve around you.

I love all these people talking about how pissed people would be if a new Iphone came out so soon. You mean like the first three models, 6 months apart? Oh wait, you all forgot about that. Feel free to check out the Buyers guide on this very site. Just over 7 months is the average refresh time for a lot of apple products. Iphone (218 days)

It will be fun to listen to everyone whine that ATT needs to let people upgrade after 6 months because it's not fair that they don't get the latest phone.

Pure comedy.

Apple's release schedule isn't static. If they release a number of models in the first year very quickly, then move to an annual release, that's the way things are.

Let's face it: Apple will release new products on their timetable, not at single individual's convenience. If your name isn't Steve Jobs, Apple Inc. really doesn't care about your specific opinion.

I agree, they release their products when they want. And no matter what anyone on here says, people will buy it.

Smaller iPad

I think the smaller ipad will happen, I'm not sure when but it's coming. Also, a camera on the next full screen iPad is a given.

He he, yeah, like those who bought the iPhone 1st gen on release day, only to whine in buyer's remorse 3 months later when Apple cut the price by 200$ and doubled the storage capacity.

Seriously you have no clue. Apples price point for the current generation iPad is on point. They have sold well over 3.5 million of them and are literally selling every last one they make with a ship time of two weeks. Which means they cannot make them fast enough I know this because I recently picked one up, and all but one Apple store in Houston was sold out, and my order online had a 3 week ship time. Quit acting like you are the authority on Apple and general consumerism.

3.5 million isn't all that many compared to the iPod. They just aren't making all that many- they themselves admitted it has been more of a success than they anticipated. Now a 7-inch, more portable version, with retina screen... that might really catch on and be the kind of thing you see everywhere.

If it's 3 and they say 5, they would be lying.

Apple can't keep up with demand, and they're cranking these things out as fast as they can. They don't need to exaggerate anything to make themselves look good. They've sold millions of iPads, and will sell millions more. If they release a 7" iPad, they'll probably sell millions of those too.

I personally have no use for a 7" iPad, and I also have no use for a 9.5" iPad. That doesn't mean I'm going to assume they're not wildly popular.

jW

Haha true that would be a lie. I am just trying to say within legal limits they do things. To me in this case lying would be telling there is profit when actually there is loss. Not keeping up with the demand is also a part of marketing I think. Have you been to a restaurant and told the wait is 15 mins although there were available tables? Making a crowd in front of the door is always a good thing.

Also I am talking about the iPhone. iPad is another story.

Maybe Apple is trying to make a huge line of touch screen stuffs, ranging in size from:

iPod Shuffle Touch
iPod Touch
iPad Mini
iPad

The Nano will enter the Classic line with:
iPod Classic Nano
iPod Classic

Is touch screen at a point where they are dirt cheap to manufacture?
I hope it is so they can just throw it in the Shuffle and Nano and still allow them to be cheap.

iPhone 5 will not launch in January 2011.

How do these idiots get paid to come up with such ****?

So true...
It'll be a new product...

The iPhone Nano1

3inch touch screen but same res as original iPhone.
at 44 pixel square touch elements would still be very usable for those with smaller hands.

The iPhone5 will be next july and will still drive the iOS line each year then all the other will follow on just like the iPod line for many years was driven by the classic.

Not really... iPhone 4 is flawed (fact) and the well informed public knows this. Apple will resolve the issue somehow other than offering a free bumper. If you foolishly purchased an iPhone 4 then you have no one to blame, but yourself. Apple will do what it has to do to keep their image intact.

Darn straight Apple knew about the issue with the antenna. I don't buy that they wanted in on the case market. They were preparing ahead of time to solve their design flaw.

Agreed. Why else design this stupid band that doesn't protect the phone? It's really something though to see it published this way. How cynical is Jobs that he'd think they could slip this by us? We designed this sharp little metal antenna on the outside, oh, but we also made a band to cover it up!

The reason the iPhone makes sense because the problem with the antenna WAS a BIG issue. Don't agree? Go argue with Steve Jobs, he called the conference to talk about it. No other Apple hardware flaw got such a short-notice conference. Hell, Jobs flew back from Hawaii to deal with it.
And Apple knows the only way to adequately fix the problem is with a hardware fix, not just a temporary bumper band-aid.

I have no doubt. iPhone received such a huge press because of their successful phones and because they are simply Apple :) the new Apple phone(s) will only get better. However, I am trying to say that the antenna issue cut the sales a lot more than Steve Jobs expected. Remember he replied to someone saying "Don't hold the phone like that" or "hold it differently" something in that line. Not important what exactly he said but he was not expecting this either.

Then the antenna issue meeting, etc. Now, he sees that this is hurting the reputation. A lot of new Apple customers that I know are backing off the iPhone 4 now, including me who is an Apple customer for 5 years. How can they convince people the antenna issue is not there anymore. The easiest way is iPhone 5. New, fresh and the best antenna design, etc. etc. Put some good marketing words there which Apple is very good at and everybody is convinced that Apple has the best phone again.

Yup.

If the iPhone received a capacity bump in January 2011, I don't think that AAPL shareholders would be too upset if the action drove sales.

Agreed. It is all about sales. I know a lot of people, mostly iPhone users (of earlier models) who are waiting until "Apple fixes it," before they get a new iPhone. And fix all the other potential problems (I know not all of you have these but some do) - the camera yellow issue, the speaker hiss, the lack of compass accuracy, the battery on some of the phones (it's either great or terrible).

I hope it is so they can just throw it in the Shuffle and Nano and still allow them to be cheap.

They are already cheap. If you buy the iPad's screen as a single item, they are about 80-100 USD, I think. If you order them by the millions, they should be half that price or even less. You can buy touch screen devices for almost nothing. But companies' interest lies in creating products where the added value is higher, so with Apple, I cannot imagine that the price of the screen will matter much. What might matter is when coloured e-ink alternatives become commercially viable. Ones with decent video performance. But we are talking years into the future, if it will ever be a possibility.
