Bahahahhaahahahahaha. Are you for real?? Its a phone, and its smarter than an iphone. Thats your excuse for thinking the iphone is the fastest phone? Because all the other androids are bigger so its not fair so it doesnt count?

Bahahahahahhahaahhahahaha

Look, it's a Android Pig on a Apple Forum!

Also i just wrote this on my ipad....

If they keep updating products so fast, the next tablet I will buy is going to be a Microsoft Slate... in 2014. I like to hold on to my products, for at least a year and love them...

I'm sorry but I can't, nor, will I drop, $660 for an iPad, 2 times a year apple! Either lower you're prices, or make your products so good, that they don't need to be updated more then once a year!

I don't think it's a good idea to come out with a product when your first generation still has *new* next to it's name on your website. That's like saying it was terrible and is something you don't want to do!

I don't know what the big deal is. If I go out and buy a brand new top of the line PC, I know by the time I even get it home, there has probably been a more up to date model released. But that's fine, as long as the one I have is fit for my needs then there's no problem.

The only reason this should really bother anyone is if they buy each one just to have the latest, and that's really sad.

Just buy a new one every other model or every 2 -3 models. You'll be a lot happier.

Yeah, you should probably switch to Android tablets. They only release one of those per year.

What an idiotic comparison. You're comparing one company releasing one line of products with a hundred of companies who release hundreds of products that happen to use the same operating system.

How about you compare one company with another instead of trying to post witty comments.

I think he was being sarcastic.

they will lose so many customers if they keep releasing ipads every 5-6 months until now you knew your device would atleast be the newest for atleast 1 year.... now this just sucks

Those that would whine because their device wasn't the "newest" for a full year really need to get a life. IF they want the newest then they should upgrade every device. Give me a break, how sad.

Its called saturation point and it came in 2012. Everyone who wanted a tablet, got it, some iPads, some Androids, some god knows what. This is a beginning of real competition. Apple does have a very position here due to its AppStore.

Mini will further help its market share. I actually looking when there will iPad nano :)

Its out, for even longer than the ipad, Its called the ipod touch

And you know this based on?

Or are you ranting FUD just for the hell of it

Past experience,

SIRI, no reason for it not to work on any Ipad or Iphone, as proved by the jailbreakers, yet it was limited to the newer models only,

Maps, same again, my jailbroken joke of an iPhone 1 runs maps via jail break, even the 3D bits, sure its not as "smooth" as on the 5 but there is no reason not to offer it as an upgrade to the 3G users unless your reason for not giving them the feature is to attempt to force them to upgrade and buy another device again,

Panorma camera, HDR photograpy, offline reading list for 3gs and earlier,

Right now im sat with a samsung Galaxy S2, a two year old phone, and it has the LATEST build of Android on it, its all singing, all dancing, if it was an iPhone 4 from the same period, id be missing features come the next iOS upgrade

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5457

check here for a list of things not supported as you upgrade, software features being left out of older models that could be easily included, if it was not for the greed of forcing obsolescence...

If apple did not do this, then the new Models of the iPhone would have NO upgrades worth getting a new phone for, the iPhone fives ONLY new feature is a slightly larger screen, everything else the 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S could do if apple didn't cripple them via iOS update abandonment.

its whats made me move to android, im sick of a company leaving out features from a software update to force me to buy a new phone every 8 months, ill keep my Galaxy S2 for a few more years yet and save a boat load on carrier bills, but still have all the features of the latest android OS.

I came to the comments just to see people complaining.

You do realize... that just because a new model comes out doesn't mean that your iPad is suddenly going to stop working or become slow, it's still the awesome thing you bought to enjoy.

I mean you cannot update to the latest operating system for iOS and THAT means you CANNOT and I mean CANNOT get most newer software packages since most do not support iOS 3.x any longer. What good is a 1st Gen iPod Touch without software? I'm stuck with the software I got for it two years ago and using it as a music player (most videos won't play either unless they are at a specific resolution whereas newer iPods can play virtually any resolution) so its function is severely limited. Apple could at least have an App Store sort by OSX 3.x and keep older software versions that are compatible with it available (i.e. I could still get most older versions of many software packages for my PPC PowerMac because most sites keep older versions around for just that sort of thing. The same is not true of iOS devices. Once you can no longer get the latest OS version, software will start drying up very quickly.

You're talking about hardware that is now over 5 years old. In the world of PMPs, that's a lifetime. Are there any comparable products released in 2007 that are still supported with software updates? It isn't obsolete in that it still functions as it did when you bought it and has had two major iOS releases.

It's not really fair to compare iOS with OSX - mobile devices have a much shorter lifespan (people upgrade their phones at a faster rate than their PCs/Macs) and also software can be downloaded from anywhere for OSX (ie anyone can hold software on their servers for downloads) whereas iOS is locked to just app store downloads - you can take this as a positive or negative.
Going back to your touch being outdated so quickly, that was a 1st gen iOS product - the App Store was so new that nobody had a clue what it would turn into or the complexity or even the simplicity of the fantastic apps that would come years later. Now it's not such an unknown quantity and spec requirements for many apps seem to have plateaued, iOS devices, regardless of the iOS they are running, are having longer shelf lives as far as third party support goes. I know plenty of people using iPhone 3G&3Gs, iPad 1&2 and while they may not be able to crunch through graphically intense games or processor heaving image editing software, there are still many (and I'll stick my neck on the line by saying most) apps that still run fine.

I'm not trying to pick a fight but I just can't see how your complaints against Apple are any worse or different to what Android and MS do with their mobile OSs. Last year I went iOS free - WP7 for a phone (Lumia 800) and Nexus 7 for a tablet so I'm not some sort of blinkered apple zombie.

The thing is the problem of yields would be even worse on a retina Mini and please do you really think that if they came out with a retina Mini instead of the "regular" one the demand would have been lower?it would probably have been higher and combining with the lower yields that would have been a problem, let them take a feel for the market im sure they'll put it out.

You didn't read my post carefully. I never put forth a scenario where Apple would have retina Mini instead of the "regular" one. So I can't really comment on that. My post you responded to put forth a scenario of releasing a Retina Mini along side of the current iPad Mini to ease the demand of the current Mini, which it would undoubtedly do. And if Apple charged a sufficiently high price for the Retina Mini, that in itself would suppress the new Retina Mini demand. Thus you would have 2 different models that each have a lower demand than the current iPad Mini.

Yes you have the lastet version of android on you gsII but was the Samsung who provided the update ??

Yeah, you should probably switch to Android tablets. They only release one of those per year.

Each individual company does. If not two or three years.
You can't say well Samsung just released one and now Sony is releasing one.
It's not the same thing. Apple has gotten stale and if Retina is all the new mini offers then I'll pass.
Also I notice the Numbers and Pages update on my Mac said support for iOS 7.
Lets hope they listen this time instead of over 200 useless updates.

Asus is wayy worse than apple when it comes to lauch products, they have a huge number of tablets in the market, and look at he padphone example....

Yes, but your PC operating system will be supported for around 10 years.

Who says they didn't have the capabilities? The people gouging consumers?

Everyone in the business of making screens. Noone makes a 3 million pixel screen at 7.9" diagonal sporting 326 ppi, and Apple needs millions of them a month to supply a iPad Mini Retina. You want only 6 months after they brought out the the 3 million plus pixel screen for the Ipad (3) for them to have shrunk it 40%, so they could use it in a mini and be ready to produce the screen affordably in the millions quantity per month. In the lead up to iPad Mini, everyone with any engineering background was telling everyone it wasnt going to happen, too soon for a shrunk Retina screen for the smaller size. Apple doesnt make their screens, they buy them (from Sharp, Samsung, etc).

Will have to keep a close eye on this rumor - extended holiday return period for the new iPad I purchased pre-Black Friday at Best Buy expires on 1/24.

I don't want to get stuck with this white whale if a slimmed down version will be out within 6-8 weeks. The 9.7 inch tablet's big and heavy rear is it's biggest weakness and has been hurting my elbow.

I am trying to decide if to get one or wait to see what this March refresh will bring, but they look so pretty lol.

Will be using it for PDF's and iBooks for the GW digital products
