wow your stupid! what if someone does not have an ipod or iphone... seriously, please think before you post!

your = possessive adjective. ex: your car, your room, your ball, etc.

you're = contraction for 'you are'

Why in the world can't you use two hands to take a picture? Left side of the iPad in your left hand, right side in your right. Tap icon. Picture taken. That seems 100% workable to me. In fact, to take a GOOD picture, you should always use both hands to steady the camera.

There are a ton of app ideas utilizing a rear facing camera.

Hold the ipad with both hands, screen facing you. Your thumbs would very naturally be on the screen; position the shutter release "button" on the left or right screen edge for the thumb to tap (make it user-settable as to which side the button is on).

"Ew yuck!"
"better designed iPad?!"

"I'm not buying it!"

"gee wilkers!! Speaker on the back? Noooo!"

The camera hole in the rear of the cases claimed to be for the next-generation iPad appears to be similar in size to that for the iPhone 4 and larger than that seen with the iPod touch, suggesting that the next-generation iPad could see the higher-resolution rear camera capabilities seen on the iPhone 4.

People are going to look really stupid taking photos with the iPad. It's hard to imagine Apple not having thought that through already.

I'd really like an SD Card slot on an iPad since there is more of a focus on sharing photos on it. A USB port would be nice too, but since every camera nowadays seems to use SD cards, I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there.

Consumer cameras anyway. Pro cameras are still going with CF (which is why the SD slot in the "Pro" laptop lineup is somewhat baffling). But an SD/MicroSD slot would make sense on a consumer tablet, like the Galaxy Tab offers.

People look stupid using an iPad period.

It's because the iPad looks like a huge iPhone.

Hence why my future iPad 2 will have a new iOS that will be more tablet like versus iPhone like.

I wont be laughed at or ridiculed but high fived

If it has a camera you don't want why would you even be using it(the camera)???????
Cause I won't be using it. It just feels like bad design to stick a low resolution no flash camera on the back in a corner. I would be surprised if Steve would approve that. If you want a Face Time camera on the front to play with, fine just keep the back smooth and elegant. Plus in areas where cameras are forbidden I don't want to have to hide it.

Regards the comment you make.

Yes the iPad looks like a giant iPhone as, lets be honest, that's really in essence what it looks like.

What I think really was for Apple it was a gamble and they did not really know what people would make of it.

They played it ultra safe and went for the safest and easiest to do option for them.

They pretty much just copied the very simple and basic interface straight over.

Hardly anyone thought they would do this. If you doubt this, just go and look at all the fake pictures people put together about what they thought the Apple tablet would look like.
Virtually no-one just scaled up the iPhone OS with giant icons. Almost no-one.

Apple took the easy route as why develop a great, advanced new front end when it may flop. Also they knew people would instantly know how to use it, hence it was a very safe option also.

Sure it attracted criticism from many who wanted more, but hey, it was worth the risk.

The problem now is, what to they do?

They they keep with the dumb UI really designed totally for a 3.5" screen and carry on looking like a giant phone ans wasting all the screen?

Or do they build a brand new UI for a tablet that takes advantage of the screen it's size and resolution?

I think they will play it safe, take the easy route and not change it hardly at all for iPad2. iPad3 may get a few tweaks, perhaps iPad4 will get a significant change.

Their other option would be an iPad with a simple UI and an iPad Pro with a more advanced one, but I don't see them doing that for a long time either.

So, everyone else on the planet should miss out on features because a tiny handful of places won't allow a camera in?

I think the iOS can work for the iPad, especially after Apple built most of the apps from the ground up for it. Having said that I believe the UI of iOS is due an overhaul to keep it fresh.

This is what iPad 2 should look like. Basically improve upon the previous design.

1. add speaker to the left
2. add camera at the top left
3. reduce the black edges
4. get rid of the back hump

Oh yes, I'm not saying iOS with some tweaks cannot satisfy the needs of a tablet. A file system where things can find files from a central place being on of the biggest issues.

I mean the UI. I actually hear the other day someone saying how tired and in need of an overhaul the UI on even the iPhone was.

But on a 3.5" screen I guess a simple press the icon idea is acceptable.

However I do feel a more advanced UI for a 10" higher res screen would be designed to offer people more.

It will represent a bigger iPod Touch. Might include a SD/Mini/Micro slot similar to Mobile phones and include a Micro USB port for syncing and charging to comply with EU Mobile standards. I always felt the Dock Connector was :apple: way of charging for add-on devices to make money from licensing fees. Though it makes sense from a business stand point, it leaves the customer with a crap load of **** that they either have to re-purchase due to pin-count changes.

iPad 2 having liquid metal back enclosure?

Hopefully Apple will blow everyone away with new liquid metal casing for iPad 2, probably shaving some critical ounces off the whole iPad.

Sorry, but it's what is on the screen and how it works, sound etc that's important to me, not what tech they used to make the case.

I think the new speakers might actually wrap around the edge of the iPad. So the risk of covering them up entirely by your hand at once is reduced. I end up doing it all the time because the edge of the pad is so thin.

Just a thought.

Neat idea. Like it.

Quite! In fact, an iPad camera might be more acceptable in such locations because it's harder to use it surreptitiously.

Personally, I'd love a rear-facing camera for work: I'd be photocopying documents, handwritten notes and other stuff like crazy and then marking them up on the screen.

People look stupid using an iPad period...

Oh come on, now. Who cares?
