Ipad 3 without a Home button

Based on the new release of XCode 4.3, the iPad simulator seems to be missing the Home Button. My best hunch is that it will be the new iPad 3 design...Basically all is the same as the iPad 2 but just no Home button. I doubt that they will bring in Retina display to the iPad 3. An increase in process speed maybe...just my 2 cents.:apple:

i always thought the 4S was a "plan b" so to speak..i think apple had almost every intention of a redesigned iphone but who knows maybe jobs was so hands on that with him getting sicker it put a speed bump in the plans..

thats why i am on the side of the next iphone coming much quicker than the normal turn around time, june at the latest!

Hooray!

Apple's back on track to restore it's traditional June iPhone launch !!!
As it appears right now, Apple has been working on this 6th generation iPhone since the launch of the iPhone 4 so I, personally, would really appreciate it when Apple goes back to a june launch.

I'm not sure if they'll do that. The 5 finger gesture to go home is kinda hard to do if you have even slightly long fingernails. Girls mostly have long fingernails, and it would tick them off. Kinda a funny idea, but it's true. Something tells me Apple would notice something like that. And I can't imagine they'd use on-screen buttons like Android

my money says the iPhone4,2 is either a t-mobile compatible 4S, or a TD-SCDMA 4S version for China. they would only identify it with a different ID if there was a hardware variation in it.
it could also be a toned-down 8GB version a la current iphone4 for when the 5 comes out. that's what the iphone3,3 turned out to be when the 4S came out.

Here we go again.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/9A405)

Have a feeling this one's coming sooner rather than later.

Ha!!!

For all the big brains who'd always "THERE WILL BE NO IPHONE 5, JUST 4, 4S, AND 6!" every chance they got...

Here's thinkin o you.

I have my credit card ready.

I don't get why all of these comments were downranked so much. Such an odd hive we've become.

Is it just me or ....

It it just me or does anyone else think that Apple (being smarter than the average bear) have probably realised that if they drop in new model references within software, it will generate self-perpetuating chatter and hype. Fan boys/girls get all excited at the prospect of a new release and market something that doesn't exist?

I'd put $1 on Steve job's having costed the savings from viral marketing as part of the business model.

That said iPhone 5 - woohoo - my existing contract expires Sep'12 so ... started saving now.

:)

So honestly, did anyone really doubt that Apple is working on a next-gen iphone?

Did you guys think they were just gonna chill and not release phones for a while?

indeed.

That said, people came, read, posted. And added to MR's hit count for ad revenue. So even though this is really a no news news item, it's still a win for the site. So expect more of the same as every little speck of information is posted, along with every rumor etc.

and news of 4" panels being shipped to Apple.

Not news, rumors. Perhaps false ones sent out by someone that wanted to tweak the stock value of the companies involved.

And even if it is true, it doesn't equal that the next iPhone will come out less than 12 months after the last. Apple does what they want, when they want. Not to mention that Apple is designing around the majority, who buy a new phone every two years NOT every time one is released. And those folks will wait a couple more months if needed. they aren't pooping in their pants over having to have everything NOW

... and news of 4" panels being shipped to Apple.
Rumors, not news. And rather pointless rumors anyhow.

It's likely that Apple has engineering samples of every single commercially viable flat panel between 1" and 50" in their labs. If you were a flat panel manufacturer, you'd be thrilled at the chance of having Apple select you as a supplier.

My iPad 3 wish list:
• LTE
• MiFi / Hotspot
• anti-glare display

1. You probably won't get until after the iPhones get it. so iPad 4. then again, if the carrier support is there, Apple might surprise us. It would make sense because the iPad is more conducive to web browsing etc. however I doubt they can do what they we really need which is to convince the carriers to do a little limited time "sign up and get unlimited data" offer. I know folks that would happily pay as much as $50 a month if they could get unlimited iPad data

2. don't ever expect this one. And if we are surprised and they do it, expect the rates to go way up or for them to say that you can't use it with a grandfathered unlimited plan.

3. IF we get this, and I"m thinking it's doubtful, it won't be the level of AG that anyone thinks it should be. More like half that. Then again, half is better than none especially if paired with better grease resistance and better back lighting for brightness (especially outdoors)

yes but the rumor is that the panel is shipping which implies non test units.

Frankly I think that it might be a beta run as part of testing. Or even might be for something not the iPhone. Perhaps they are going to release a new iPod touch in the late winter given they didn't in the all. and maybe it will be using this 4" screen for better gaming

<snip> I can't imagine they'd use on-screen buttons like Android
I agree.

There's two reason why,

1) Steve left orders not to

2) They work too well, never failing like the home buttons on the Four iPhone 4's Apple replaced for me due to failed buttons.

There hasn't been a new worthwhile feature on an iPhone since the app store appeared. Yawn, Apple, I'm getting bored. I'm probably just going to get the 4s when my 4 retires just because I already have cases that will fit and a new 5 won't take them and also will have some features that are meaningless.

Not one amazing thing came out of ios5. In fact, all it did was make my 4 run slower.

i always thought the 4S was a "plan b" so to speak.

A lot of folks think that. With zero proof.

Apple designs for the 95% (with the iPhone these days more like 75%), who don't buy a new phone every year but rather every two years when their contract is up. For them, the jump from 3gs to 4s was huge. And that was very possibly all that anyone at Apple was planning to do. Consider the logic in a physical redesign at the same time that they add LTE. Way smarter move since the 95% have no real clue what the heck LTE is. They will buy it cause it is shiny and pretty and their contracts from when they bought the 4 are up. That it is faster while giving them the same amount of data use isn't going to wow them.

BIGGER SCREEN NOW!!!11eleven

Hey Apple, I want to have the ULTIMATE big screen phone! Can you just build a 9.7inch screen to it? That would be awesome for browsing. I find 5" is still too small.

...oh wait, I have that already. Its called the iPad :D
