My 4S battery isn't great but isn't terrible. I just can't imagine a bigger screen, LTE with only a slight upgrade....I know they are using a new screen to save power, but LTE is going to be a really big power drain...even the new chip can't solve all the issues

iOS6 better batten up the hatches because my 4S could use more juice...

It's this kind of lack of innovation and minor upgrades that will burst the apple bubble. Investors are wary enough and if 4g LTE is the only real upgrade then it'll be interesting to see what happens on wall street.

I wish Apple would just decide that the iPhone is thin enough and increase battery size to fill up the extra space from shrinking other components instead of making it thinner. If they really made the phone longer and thinner just think of how much better the battery life would be if they made it longer and the same thickness just filling up the space with more battery.

I fear the stupidity of this is becoming a reality. I really don't want to see a longer iPhone.

Calm down, Apple usually knows what they are doing with regards to design. They wouldn't release a new iPhone with a disastrous design. You'll probably like it once it's released...

Every leak is a surprise to me. The shape, the screen, the connector, the multi-tone body, and now the battery.

I can't hate it yet like most in this thread because I haven't used one. People love to jump to conclusions on this forum.

I think this is the new 4S battery...the more I think about it, the more I see them tweaking the 4S at the 1 year, and releasing a 1700+batt for the LTE iPhone...unless those Gobi chips are insane....

Last year they got updated iPhone 4 parts mixed up with 4S, this could be the same deal.

Ya'll need to just take a deep breath. The battery can put out more juice than the old one AND the circuitry won't need proportionally more power. It's designed to be carefully balanced to give you maximum satisfaction.

No need to be a gaggle of nervous Nellies running around like the sky is falling. This is Apple 3.0 we're talking about fer gawd's sake!

Battery is the most important part....I'd care less about the design if the battery sucks. I hope these leaks are all fake because my anticipation for the next iPhone has declined...

well, they didn't hesitate to release a phone with mediocre battery life called the 4S; and that's exactly a design flaw, simply an internal one.

I think the mediocre battery life is a combination of the HSPA+ antennas sucking up more juice than they tested, and iOS5 adding icloud...

Wow, this thread is like bizarro-land.

More efficient SoC, IGZO screens that Sharp's saying could reduce consumption by 90%, a new generation of 4G chips that don't draw any more power than their 3G counterparts, and on top of all that, a bigger battery?!

Also consider that all of the iPhones have had best-in-class battery life, blowing away most other smartphones, so it's not like they're starting from a position of weakness.

Bravo Apple.

Everybody chill. Combined with the Gobi 28nm chips, this will be the 3rd year in a row that they are sticking with 8 hours talk time (3G) and 6 hours surf time (3G). Clearly they have data showing that is sufficient for pretty much all users to get through the day. Now, if you are an iPhone nerd (hint: if you are in an iPhone forum, then Yes, you are) then you probably use it more than that. That makes you an edge case. This doesn't mean sales will crumble and Apple is doomed. This means we are an edge case, that's it.

I expected iOS 5 to be optimized with the 4S; they had no excuse for such a terrible release. How many months did they have for the 4S? yea...15.

Unless those 'genius' at apple spent 4 months taking care of Jobs.

well put.

why would they waste resources to redo a battery on old version? They didn't do that on any previous model of the iPhone.

unfortunately, my 4S does not live up to the advertised battery life; and that's with the majority of the phone's feature turned off.

Steve Jobs would never have allowed this to happen.

here we go again.

Because the 4S is going to be the new 3GS, and they have kept that thing a seller for many years...updating a design already done doesn't cost a lot if its just a battery...sell what you have and ship the new ones, who knows they coulda got a good deal...I'm just saying this is a possibility...I wanted a bigger battery cause my 4S disappoints in longevity.

I think you don't need to turn everything off. The battery just depletes as quickly. So I really enjoy using my iPad much more.

Well it would seem the whole phone is a marginal upgrade

Surprise ...It's taller
Bitch and moan all you like AFTER they announce the phone and that really is the ONLY new feature. But until then, is it too much to ask you and the other 5 year olds around here to chill and stop acting so entitled for a phone that doesn't even exist yet?
