I think you don't need to turn everything off. The battery just depletes as quickly. So I really enjoy using my iPad much more.

not to mention the terrible build quality
i've gone through three 4S, all of them were due to a dying home button after 2 months of gentle use; never had to deal with this when i had a 3GS

My 4S has disappointed, but my iPad has been incredible, I charge the thing every few days.

Everybody chill. Combined with the Gobi 28nm chips, this will be the 3rd year in a row that they are sticking with 8 hours talk time (3G) and 6 hours surf time (3G). Clearly they have data showing that is sufficient for pretty much all users to get through the day. Now, if you are an iPhone nerd (hint: if you are in an iPhone forum, then Yes, you are) then you probably use it more than that. That makes you an edge case. This doesn't mean sales will crumble and Apple is doomed. This means we are an edge case, that's it.

I don't know how anyone would get this my phone drops 25% just sitting in my truck for 3 hours. I have to charge it after 2 15 minute breaks and a lunch.

1) Do the Gobi 28nm chips combine LTE and voice? (thus using less space and not requiring a smaller battery to fit an extra chip for LTE).
2) Do we know that these chips will be in the iphone 5? The story says that Qualcomm is "poised to release the chips" which sounds like they aren't yet available to Apple or anyone else.
Thanks

apple's attitude is, "who cares, millions will buy it anyways. our loyal fans got suckered with the 4s. they will buy anything from us."
Although if the only upgrades are the elongated format and decreased battery life, I guess I'll hold on to my 2-year old iPhone 4 and just wait for the next gen.

There are reasons why I love apple products: solid build quality, excellent battery life...etc

Ever since last year, I feel like these things are all falling apart (lion screwing up mbp battery life, 4S with a horrible battery, thicker iPad that takes 8 hours to charge)...etc :(

1) yes it does
2) apple has early access to chips to test with just like every other manufacturer. They also get chips to put in the as of yet unreleased iPhone.

This response was inevitable. I'm just surprised it took 43 posts before someone posted it.

No kidding...stop saying Steve this and Steve that. The man is gone, obviously we know he may/would of done things differently. But for **** sakes let the man RIP. Glad to see theres a few people in here who still have positivity towards the phone. I mean hell, Apple hasn't even officially announced it. Everyone relax and just wait one more month. And as always, if you don't like it when it is announced, go find another phone. Plenty of them out there.

I've held out on my iPhone 4 with home button that works once in a dozen presses and power button that has lost it's "click" and near needs to be pushed into the body to operate while anticipating the "iPhone 5". If all its innovation is future-tech data speed upgrades (which I can't benefit from) and a stretched screen then I may well move to another brand.

I seriously hope the battery won't be as bad (or worse) as the iPhone 4s. I have to charge every day, and some times it nearly holds out until the evening. Once the battery doesn't handle 1 day it's useless. Then you would have to constantly consider if you should use the phone or save battery.
I would have thought that with all the new stuff Apple keep adding, battery would be as important. But, so far it's only gotten worse. My 3Gs lasted a 2 day minimum, with heavy use. 4s is Half. If apple would have released a new phone, almost identical to the 4S, only with 5x battery time, I would have gotten that from that reason alone. :(

Fingers crossed they have discovered some way of increasing battery time with iOS6. Then even 4S users can benefit from it.

Agreed. The iPad is an excellent product! The only point to improve now (besides "faster" etc.) is the weight. If it can go back to the weight of an iPad 2 I'm in heaven. :D

iPhone 4S buyers are coming across as geniuses with this new revision.

- They won't have to deal with the pain in the ass dock connecter for another year or two when things will have matured
- They won't have to deal with the annoying new nano SIM for another year or two when it would be more ubiquitous
- They have the same underlying A5/PowerVR hardware
- The same battery capacity
- They can run iOS6 in it's entirety
- They don't have to contribute to Apple's bottom-line this year.

it's funny because tim cook said something similar himself at allthingsd this year.

Sarcasm aside, Apple doesn't upgrade the internals when there is an external design change, e.g. the iPhone 4, which is basically a 3GS with more RAM and a better screen / camera etc.

Seems like all we need now it to see the CPU/GPU that's inside and that's it. We'd have seen the entire device (so it seems)

Unless the (grasping at straws concept) is right and this is all fake, which I think we are pretty much feeling is not the case at this stage.

A disappointed acceptance seems to be sweeping across the forums, that it's almost unthinkable there is the REAL model still being kept secret.

Does anyone know if the Galaxy S3 has the Gobi 28nm combined voice/LTE chip in it?
Thanks

What if all these leaks are just one big miss direction by apple and the 5 turns out to be actually something really cool ?

When the iPhone 4 was leaked in early 2010 a lot of people said it's ugly, "looks like a brick" and "won't buy it"

Is everyone forgetting that the new iPhone will have a 32nm or smaller processor. This made a 25% difference for the iPad 2 rev 2 (2012 model).

Can't believe the internal speaker is going to be even quieter then it already is. Lame

I would like to borrow this time-machine everyone seems to own so I can post on this forum about how it doesn't have a great battery life/uses an A5X chip/sucks/etc.

They just need to pack new tech into an iPhone 3GS form factor. The extra space can be used for juice. It would last forever...
