fscklog points to a posting on Taiwanese site Apple.pro showing photos of the front and back of a purported white next-generation iPhone front panel.

While very similar to the traditional black panel seen in some previous parts leaks and in prototypes that have surfaced in recent weeks, it does carry an unknown physical feature directly above the earpiece slot. The feature appears similar to a "reflective surface" seen in another part leak back in February.

Apple has offered a white back on its iPhone 3G and 3GS models, with the exception of the 8 GB 3G model. If today's purported images do in fact turn out to be authentic, it appears that Apple is looking to bring that style option around to the front with a more prominent presence.

A totally white phone could look pretty nice.

But I would have to see a mock-up of it...

Any takers?

.... When are the pictures of a Mac Pro's being unboxed in an elevator gonna start hitting the net...

Still waiting on the white back.

I think all white with the aluminum trim is pretty sexy. Thats coming from someone supremely confident in his masculinity.

Plus, with all of the other black phones out there, it is a good way to advertise how cool you are with your new White iPhone 4G. ;)

I see MacRumors is back on the "white=feminine" thing.

Guess these same guys never had an old-school ipod.

Hopefully there will be no more mismatching. I think the current iPhone with the black on the front and white backing looks horrendous. Same goes for the white keys on the aluminum keyboard and the white Magic Mouse top that doesn't match the iMac.

Hmmmmmm... I have a white 3G and I like it, but the black bezel on the front is kind of... you know, consistent with the MBP, the iPad, the iMac and just about every other Apple product with a screen – it gives you the impression of an edge-to-edge panel when the device is off or in standby.

I get flashbacks of an old white TV I accidentally bought in the early 90's, the contrast between the dark screen and the white frame made the screen look really small.

I dunno, kinda makes me wanna go with a black iPhone this time.

Personally I think a white front would be a strain on the eyes. Having this blinding white halo surrounding the screen might be problematic IMHO.

I had a white iPhone 3G a couple years ago and thout it was all kinds of sexy. I'm particularly excited about this new one being white. It looks like it'll be looking better than the 3G even did.

When did white become a "feminine color"? Does anyone complain that the MacBook is feminine too?

you can't call a white phone girly... we live in 2010. guys are wearing pink, it wasn't acceptable years ago but now is.

For that mystery part on the white front, maybe it's a later production model with something they added on towards the end.

My hope...LED indicator. One thing I've always missed on the iPhone is a way to know I've received messages without having to hit the home button and, in the case of email, unlock the phone.
