" it does carry an unknown physical feature directly above the earpiece slot."

it′s a hologram projector to show us notifications, SMS, missed calls, RSS, twitter updates and similar stuff in 3D :p

Edit: Ohh, and it is also a light source so we can have video chat in dark places

White has its places - on a Lotus, for example, HOT. On a Land Rover, nice as well. A white t-shirt on a soaking wet, smoking hot woman, unbeatable. Even the mighty-mouse looks nice in white.

...but I gotta say, the contrast of the black screen and the white bezel, not so much. I'm gonna go with black again, methinks.

How is white a girly color?
It isn't.

And for anyone who disagrees, why don't you walk up to Scarface and tell him to his face that white is a girly color. Do it. :D

Even though that is a quick and dirty 'shop, I am drooling like a St Bernard.

Even more so when you consider it will look 1000 times better in the sleek opaque albino glass 'flesh'.

For me pure white has always been synonymous with modern Apple products, from the original iPod and numerous generations since, all iMacs until current (Luxo, G5 with chin etc.), the iBook/white Macbook and the Alu keyboards. The current fetish for glossy black is just a fad, and an ugly generic-looking one as well.

I'll take 2 blueberry phones, 4 tangerines, a flower-power and a dalmatian please...

I think the 'reflective surface' is where the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor are gonna be on the white front, because I don't think that the white glass is transparent enough to hide the sensors behind the glass. And they proabably moved the sensors from the left of the earpeice (like the 3G/3GS) to the top because of the extra space taken up from the camera.

I still lament the loss of the classic white iPod. My 3GS is a white version and I absolutely would buy a "proper" white iPhone in the future, if the option was there. To be honest, I've always found black to be a very dull colour for consumer electronics, much like the old beige PC towers. White might be considered a bit clinical but I do prefer it.

White is the most visible colour on the road

True, last international auto show I went to was in March of this year and most of the cars on display were white!

No surprise when WHITE is the most visible (thus the safest colour) on the road, day or night... White actually hides scratches and dirt much better than glossy black, just compare the back of an unprotected (no case) black and white iPhone...

If white why not consider aluminum or pewter to blend in with the edges and make it mono color. Maybe Gozmodo could fire up Adobe Photo and do one of those!

Really depends on the climate you live in, not to mention time of year.

White is great in the spring and summer because it stays rather clean looking, while black cars are hopeless due to pollen, rain, dust etc. But of course white is a bummer in the winter when the surroundings are white from snow and the car is brown from dirt, sand, mud.

White is good for 6 months of the year, black is a pain in the @ss 27/7/365.

Of course, silver, light graphite grey or even brown is the one you should go for if you can't be arsed to wash your car regularly.

I had a creamy white mini clubman and it holds well, think I had only ever washed it twice...:D

Similar to MacBook and MacBook Pro?

Considering that the second Prototype was a 16Gb, I am starting to think that we might see a "cheaper" iphone (white) and a iphone "Pro" (Black)? your thoughts?

Well, I have a set of portable speakers I use with my iPhone when using it for music, and when I bought it, the only color the store had was white. So white would look good with my little set up.

I don't put much stock in the concept of gender-related colors, except perhaps for pink, and in the right environment (Miami beach, maybe) a guy can wear a pink shirt. If there is a color choice, just get what you like & frack 'em if they can't take a joke, that's my advice.

You know, we can end this white/black color for electronic devices debate easily if Apple just went ahead already and painted all their devices in nano paint that can assume any color and or pattern.

Might look good, but it would seem simpler to offer various colors for the aluminum trim instead.

If so, I hope it's a multi colored led that doubles as an indicator for missed calls / received text msgs. I hate having to switch on the screen for that.

+1

I'm really looking forward to this! If it's white like that all around I'll definitely get one. And the blue thing, I think that is either readjusted light sensor to accomodate for the front facing camera, or it's indeed some sort of LED indicator. I'm hoping it's the latter.

I hope this is true, I've been hoping for an all white phone since the 3G came out...actually, sine the iPhone came out.
