So on this topic, I came across some articles about 5 G being a serious health hazard. We may not want mobile phones to move to that after all. Personally I really don't have any complaints with my LTE speeds as is. If this 4x4 MIMO can improve speeds a little more than I'd be fine with that.

Cool. While at it, if they could make the phone smaller, fitting into the current 7-8 chassis, it would be awesome!

Here's hoping! This was actually the thing that had me considering the Max, though I ended up going with the XR in the end.
My XR outperformed my former XS Max by leaps and bounds, and still beats my husband’s XS Max at capturing and retaining the best signal and speeds and has given me no issues on WiFi that my Max did.

(So they clearly need to do something else to the XS series design to improve modem performance besides upgrading the modem itself.) Meanwhile the improved modem on the Xr should be pretty impressive.

But I would not upgrade on this basis alone. My Xr is good enough for rural and suburban use. It’s a good enough phone, period. I just want them to keep improving iOS. The hardware is fine. It’s iOS that had me wanting to throw the phone through a window for a long while. I’m relieved the last update fixed a lot of my complaints.

The XR is a great device. It only needs an up to date (or less outdated) screen and a more reasonable price (and almost anything Apples sells needs more reasonable prices).

A more advanced tweak in the current network standard nobody knows about is more or less irrelevant.

Well I’m a little confused about the health risks...is it the phones (receivers) that are a concern or the emitters that pose the risk? Or both? Or factually neither?

Ir's still just lipstick on a pig. What you get is Tim Cook telling you how it is priced based on the great user experience it affords. Not on how much it costs to make. And where is the mMac Pro? It's 2019. Please tell me you aren't waiting for the POWER 10 (APPL will call it POWER X) chips to be released.

Liquid Retina is marketing babble for rounded corners.

Apple could have easily specified the high PPI they've used in the plus series of phones for the last four years.

They cheaped out and jacked the price. You got ripped off.
Same PPI as iPhone 8. Didn’t see anybody complaining back then.

Sounds nice and all, but I’d rather they keep improving Liquid Retina over anything else. As an epileptic, the OLED screens (especially with all the flickering) simply aren’t an option for me.

I’m thinking of replacing my 7 Plus this year, but I’m torn between getting the 8 Plus or the XR...
I really like my XR. I went from a 7 and it's better in every way. The battery life is great (I am rarely under 40% at the end of a day), it's fast, the screen is lovely (pixels are noticeable if I look at it closely), FaceID has been nearly flawless and is a major improvement over TouchID. I don't miss the home button. My cell connectivity is slightly better than what I had on my 7. The camera is noticeably better too.

So you are UNHAPPY with your XR because it wouldn't take much to make you move on from it?

Interesting.
What? No, I like the XR, but if the next version had 4x4 for better reception, I would consider upgrading to XR 2. It was the only feature that tore me between XR and XS, and I ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the premium. How did I convey that I was unhappy with it whatsoever?

Interesting? Lol, okay?

As long as it doesn’t share the terrible antenna placement of the XS, then great!

I don't like OLED screens, either, for a different reason. Am thinking of trading my X in for an XR for the superior camera and LCD screen. The Xr also has longer battery life on a charge as well - though I'm not complaining about X's.

Honest question - what about the XR Camera makes it superior than the X?
