Using a stronger and more scratch-resistant alloy in iPhones would be very welcome.

I don't like how keys and coins scratch up the Aluminium on my iPhone when it's in my pocket. (But I like using cases even less!)

That said, so far my iPhone 6 is holding up much better than the 5 did.

What ever happened to the liquidmetal hype? Did they just use that for the Apple Remote?

Hooray! Maybe they can make the next iPhones thinner because so many of us are griping about the onerous thickness of the current iPhones... just like so many of us were griping about the iPhone 5s being too thick ahead of the iPhone 6 launch.

Thinner! Thinner! Com'on Apple. You know what we want most!

Kick the battery out if you have to. We can just buy a battery pack (sold separately of course) so that we "can get whatever amount of battery we want". The battery "as is" takes up so much space inside. Get rid of it and you can really thin the thing. And "lighter" would be "much lighter" if you ship it without a battery. Plus a more protruding camera can be overcome by the case we'll need to buy (separately) anyway. It all "just works".

And please, could you build it with a lightening 2 connector so we can better rationalize buying new cables & accessories again? Don't worry, we'll just spin it as "the future" among ourselves. Anyone who gripes about a new connector that connects to nothing we have without an adapter can just be beat down. The future you spin is THE future: thinner & lighter are most important and we'll happily still pay the full price you want AND buy the accessories (separately) too so that it can work as it has.

All

I agree! I saw someone on the train this morning with an iPhone 5, and there were so many ugly scratches and nicks in the "beautifully chamfered edge". I only kept my 5 for a year, but it looked similarly crappy by the end. Anything Apple does to make phones that are durable enough that they still look great after a year of normal use would be welcome.

Apple's next-generation iPhones could adopt 7000 Series aluminum used for the Apple Watch Sport...

What alloy does the iPhone use now? Do we know that it's not 7000 Series? Maybe the Apple Watch is just using the same stuff Apple has been using for their other products, and they just made the sexy video about it.

Long as they keep the amazingly scratch resistant anodising they have now I'm happy. Ive had my iPhone 6 naked from day one and theres not a mark on it. Compared to the iPhone 5 I had before its just amazing.
