Until you put it in your pocket the first time.

What do we care about that? Once it's in a pocket, apparently- per Watch buyer rationale- it's hard to pull back out of our pockets and or we don't like "fumbling around with our iPhones" or we don't want to actually have it with us anymore: "I'm desperately hanging from a vine off the side of a cliff but I need to get an urgent text message" or "I'm shoveling out of a blizzard but the iPhone is inside of 12 layers of clothing and I must get a text message" or "I'm mowing the lawn and don't want my iPhone out there where it might get damaged but I must get notifications immediately", and so on.

----------

But will it bend?

Bend is so negative. If we can't beat down those who have seen an Apple product bend as being Samesung shills, overweight, or just trolls plotting to bring down Apple by faking it, we can always spin "bend" into "flexible": "the new thinner, lighter and most flexible iPhone ever."

I thought the ultimate goal was to make LiquidMetal iPhones.

On the other hand, can you imagine a thinner LiquidMetal Apple Watch? OMEGA actually has a Seamaster model with it.

Only for the 3GS.
For the 4S is was for Siri.
For the 5S is was never noted. Most assume Security (TouchID)

We don't need more speed, haven't needed more speed for awhile. We've crossed the tipping point for a bit.

Apple never officially explained the 's' in any model (maybe just the 3Gs), these are fan namings...

No, Apple wanted Sapphire to be the new buzz word and the marketing tactic has worked on some people.

I assumed sapphire was for the watch (and camera and Touch ID). What's the benefit of a sapphire phone screen? I've never had my iPhone screen get scratched.

Not the fans. Tim Cook.

"said Cook. “And if you keep the same industrial design, as in the case of the 4S, some people might say it stands for Siri or speed. We were thinking of Siri when we did it. For the 3GS we were thinking of speed.”"

Only the 5S is guessing, as I noted previously.

Not true. In the iPhone 3Gs Keynote, Phill Schiller explicitly said: "the S stands for speed".

After seeing the SS watch, I'd like to see a SS iPhone. That would ooze quality.

I thought we've moved on from SS? All stainless steel iPods just scratched like crazy and most looked awful after a couple of months. Aluminium is this lightweight, strong, easy to make and extract, almost space-age material and now everyone wants to move backwards. I don't get it :p

Correct. Just like the iPhone 4S which came out in the US on October 14, 2011 was said to reference "For Steve" because Jobs had died on October 5th, 11 days beforehand.

Could not agree more. Polished stainless steel is a horrible, horrible, horrible material.

Pronunciation-challenged Americans: "Aloo-man-im"

heh.. at least we spell it like we say it ;)

it'd be different if the only correct spelling was aluminium.. but you brits* will still read aluminum the weird way.

*not sure if you're british.. just assuming.. or is it assumining? : )

Rumored new features for the iPhone 6S:

  • Advanced camera system with multiple sensors and smaller lenses that can mimmick dSLR DOF
  • New camera would enable the camera bump to go away
  • Force Touch gestures for the display
  • Faster A9 chip with 2GB RAM so apps and tabs stay loaded longer, less crashing
  • Improved battery due to move from 20nm to smaller 14nm chip process, which should use less power. Miniaturization of key components could lead to a slightly larger battery.
  • Stronger 7000 series aluminum to help prevent bending and denting

That seems like an incredibly solid upgrade to me!

Here are some things that I think could potentially come to the iPhone 6S, but are a fair bit less likely:

  • 4K video recording mode
  • 1080p FaceTime camera
  • Starting at 32GB?
  • Faster TouchID fingerprint reader
  • True @3X on Plus (not scaled), @3X now on the 4.7" model?
  • "Hey Siri" voice activated co-processor. The V9?
  • Slower slow-mo video, or perhaps higher-resolution than 720p at current rate?
  • Some kind of audio improvement from the Beats acquisition?
  • AMOLED display like the Apple Watch? Just not sure how good the color is comparatively, or if it's too expensive?
  • New color option? Red or rose gold?

Again, many of the things on the second list probably won't make it into the 6S, but I think a few of them could. Personally I hope that the 6S could get better image stabilization like the 6 Plus. The key thing is which features will help further differentiate the Plus model this year? I wish they could keep them mostly the same. If the Plus was a little bit faster I wouldn't mind.

Owl-you-mini-um.

Whatever happened to "liquid metal"?

I am waiting for tungsten as on my saw blades. It could be applied as a film layer over some cheaper metal.
