Oh lame. I like the current nano!

Count me in as well. The long nano's feel like.. well.. very flimsy and er... breakable

I love the current nano. It feels so warm and nice to hold!

Oh well.. guess some sacrifices have to be made to include the 'bigger' screen!

What's with all the hate towards the Nano 3G? I think it's the nicest Nano so far, elegant, very nice screen, very nicely built. I used to have a Nano 2G, but I like my friends' new Nanos much better.

Put a huge click wheel on the back. That'll solve everything.

a normal size click wheel on the back with a fullscreen on the front would be sick.

and if they're putting WS on a nano, they should implement the same thing on the classic. i'd say the same idea: nice 3.5" screen 250GB(!!) on the front with a scroll wheel on the back. now THAT would be something i'd like to buy (i can put it in my pockets and know that i'm clicking a button to skip, which is impossible with the iphone/touch)

dare i add, slide out click wheel?

I wonder if there's someone out there capable enough to do up a mockup of the supposed design using the 3G iPod nano as a base rather than the 2G?

That would at least give us an idea as to the correct gradients and curves around the edges as well as using one of the more subdued colours from the 3G - the iLounge mockup looks a little weird because of the sharp corners and the old colour.

I wonder if this will also be done on the Classic.
Because if this is happening with the new releases this fall, the Classic will still be here.
They're not going to get rid on the Classic for a while.

There have been rumors for a long time about an iPod with a touch screen that has a click wheel that appears and disappears as you touch it.

Did anyone see the other update Macrumors posted on Page 1, right after this one, about the same thing?

Looks like it was taken down.

Anyways, the picture is interesting. I like how they added a picture of Steve Ballmer to the mock up.

I like the current ones the most, to be honest. But I won't be getting one anyways, so it doesn't matter too much to me.

Don't worry, it will NEVER happen.
That is another think I have seen a fake of.
There would be no way to control it.

I dont get why the guys on page 1 are so excited over it. no way to control it at all whatsoever,

The 1G nanos certainly did feel flimsy, but I don't think you can say the same about the 2G with its all round aluminium enclosure like the iPod mini. I'd like to see them return to that design, they look much better than those shiny backs.

The Zune is such a joke and a product built out of arrogance that no one will even relate the new nano ( if this is true ) to it. iPod has the ClickWheel, not the squircle Mickey Mouse controller. :p

That's brilliant!
I really like the last pic of the Touch Nano thing.
I wish they would do that for the Classic too.
The first future iPod Classic looks fake, especially since it's now playing screen is from the 5G iPod.
The second Nano pics that were uber small, look especially fake, considering the screen looks a lot like one from Sony and other companies.

I'm gonna do a mock up of the first pic with the new screen. The small nano screens are actully apple's front row UI back in 2005.

Ahh, the first Nanos bring back memories.
I can take those apart and put those back to better in a matter of minutes.
But 1GB can hold just about nothing.
Those screens also got scratched wayyy to easily.

Oh ya, I am still just amazed at this idea, even though it is just a screen shot of Front Row '05.
But in that pic I did notice that there was a little signal indicator to the right of "iPod" at the top.
Does this indicate some weird wireless feature for the future in nanos?
I did see anything in the main menu involving wireless features.

I highly doubt that apple would go back to anything like an older design. Why would the nano be construnwe by a ciick wheel for example, when the iTouch iPhone are both touch, and the new macbooks/mbps also now starting to get rumors if multitouh pads.

I'd umagin thy might make it more rectangular possibly, but why? If it had the same screen resolution as a Touch, 430x320 why change that ratio? I'd imagine if anything it's head towards a 640x480 And it OLED. Wouldn't it go more the way of the macBook Air and have tapered edges etc? A nano is "nano" sized after all - what point is there to make a self named tiny iPod line bigger??

The click wheel is on it's way out as the major design feature of the iPod.

Tall nano + accelerometer + backlit click wheel "Menu" text and icons (a la 3rd gen iPod)

When you rotate to one side, the text and icons also change orientation.
