OK, so powder coating does not work. Why not use the same kind of color they use on the iPods? I'd go for a bright metallic blue case exterior as long as it had the dull grey inside.

looks lovely. would personally prefer it if the trackpad was black too. or even just the same colour as the keyboard as i think it would be less distracting. still looks gorgeous though!

I've always liked the black macbooks... this would be pretty cool! As long as they don't arbitrarily charge you more for it...! I don't know how likely this really is though, to be honest. But I would love to see it happen!

Black on aluminum would go a lot better than it did on the polycarbonate MacBooks from 2010. It would look like the current iPod classic. Pretty sweet!

If I'm not mistaken, the silver "aluminum" color you see on all Mac's isn't actually the bare aluminum. It's anodized silver to give it the uniform color you see. If they anodize the MacBook Air's (or any aluminum Mac) black, it would look absolutely stunning. The black iPod Classics are anodized as well, so it would most likely look exactly like that.

They should just give a bunch of colour options.
Black- aluminum-white-red-blue...etc ( then again.. there'd probably be a lot of stock issues.

Think about it. Every laptop is black. Every. Laptop.
What do you think, is the idea that Apple is following by NOT making their MacBooks black? They want to differentiate their products from others. As they do with their (often) high quality and their special design.

Black MacBooks wouldn't look bad - but they would look like every other laptop out there. I am not using Apple for Lion only. It's also the thing about its unique design and special, unique look.

Uh ? Where did you get this from ? I've had gray/white Dells, our Elitebooks are dark grey at work, I've seen all sorts of colors from Sony Vaios.

Laptops haven't been all black for quite a while now.

So why did Apple offer the Macbook in black then?

Color isn't a differentiator unless you're the only one using it, and Dell/HP/Lenovo/Acer/Asus have all tried to mimic the MBP/MBA in some way, and there are a lot of laptops out there w/ a silver metallic color.

I have to say although I don't see it happening a black MBA would be awesome after all the BlackBook was damn sexy!
