The entire reason he doesn't care about Bluray is because they are going toward a digital platform for movies etc. This wireless tech is exactly the kind of tech they want to be able to achieve that! Or is that what you are saying in an odd way?

How does multi-gig wireless network inside your home help you to download/stream movie from outside of your home faster?
If you can only have 1M connction to internet, that's still what you get. And if 10M costs more than your car, it's just easier and faster just to go rent a blu-ray.
And this is also what wi-gig will be used: transmitting that 40Mbps quality wirelessly from bd to tv.

why cant we just use current technology to do that? 802.11n will more then happily transmit that......

Good question.
Since all blu-ray players already have network connection, why they don't act as remote optical drive for all devices in local network?

Maybe they want o stream hdmi wirelessly, so that the screen does not have to have enough processing power to decode fullHD-AVC...

i guess everything needs to be complient, and wireless n isnt a standard thats compatible with sony & BD.

I don't want interference with WirelessHD.
only silly people use wireless :p
