I would be, since it's obviously nowhere near ready yet and they still have two months to keep working on it.
It would be par for the course for Apple. Just look at the buggy mess Lion is. *I jest ... partly*

Given that devs cannot submit applications for the platform, iOS 5...
As did Camera+. They didn't call it out but the lightbox didn't work before the update and after it did. Another dev (don't remember which) added "compatibility for an OS that shall not be named." I thought it was clever and humorous.

iTunes provisioning portal does not accept applications signed with the iOS 5 Beta SDK, thus Apple does not allow iOS 5 apps on the store.

iOS 5 capability could mean anything - it is broad. It could be that some things within the app have been rewritten or removed so that a later version could take advantage of the new APIs in iOS 5.

OR - some API calls used in the app were removed as they were deprecated in iOS 5. This is technically still 'iOS 5 capability'.

i'm sure i saw last year some apps got updated to be compatible with iOS4 before it came out, basically is was some known bugs in the beta's they were fixed for, but then got another update when iOS 4 came out which had a different description, something like iOS 4 capable. basically one just pre-empted some bug fixes and the later one enabled iOS 4 specific features.

Well Mashable's update today said, "Compatibility with iOS 5".

People need to understand the difference between compatible with iOS 5 and requires iOS 5.

I have an app in the store right now that I need to update in order for it to work at all on (a.k.a. be compatible with) iOS 5. However, I can make all of the necessary changes using the iOS 4 SDK and current version of Xcode. This will make the app work on iOS 5, but not actually include anything specific to iOS 5. These are the kinds of updates that can be submitted currently.

If I want to add an iOS 5-specific feature to the app, e.g. iCloud support, I can't submit that update until Apple says we can.

I'm hoping for GM today.

I'm hoping for a lottery win, and I think I'm being a bit more realistic.

Well, if it follows OS 4, then it had four betas and a GM. But I doubt we will see a new beta today. Maybe beta 5 next week, and GM the day of the show.
