You can still do that if Apple releases more than one phone a year... unless you have fallen victim of the "I need the latest and the greatest" mindset, which I assume you have.
I'm assuming the same. He won't look as cool when walking in a crowd with an outdated(6 months) old iPhone
YoU know what they say about assuming...
You're wrong.
I've bought the 4s and the 5. The only reason I bought a 5 was because I wanted more capacity and my wife wanted my 4s (her android was junk). Oh, and it was my birthday so, happy birthday to me.
However, I have set up my plan so that one of our two lines is eligible every year. I saw the value in the one-year contract back in 2010 and signed one of us up for that for an extra $70. That makes it so if I or my wife do want a new phone, or my phone breaks, or I just want to buy one and sell it for a profit (prob. never do this but hey), I have the option to get one at a subsidized price every year.
That's more what I was referring to.
I don't mind having a dated device -- especially if it's only 6 months out of date. I do (or maybe did) enjoy Apple having a one-year lifecycle so that you don't feel like you walk out of the store and your device is antiquated however I'm not that shallow.
I'm more concerned with everything I outlined in my last post regarding their ability to deliver a worthwhile spec upgrade, a worthwhile OS update, and not sacrifice QC on a shorter lifecycle.
They can't even keep iMessage to five nines... I question how a more aggressive release cycle will work out for them.
