honest question, why you need 24GB ram on an ipad?
Launching more than just 1 app at a time? Not to mention iOS 26 heavily emphasises multitasking on iPad like never before. Also 24GB of RAM can help preventing tab reloading, assuming each safari tab can consume up to 256MB of RAM at a time, not the entire browser.

More RAM will allow more windows open without refreshing, content creation software will allow more layers, apple intelligence, games etc. There is use for it but iPad OS is very efficient with RAM, so 8 GB can still go a long way.
I’d say 8GB is going to be not enough very soon unless someone literally play no games and almost never use “heavy apps” like 3D modeling, video processing and so on.

Well, i always get the 1TB model and i am assuming it comes with double the ram of the base model like the m4 did. I’m not sure the M5 1TB will come with 24gb of ram. Just going by rumors. But my iPad Pro is my only computer. I do all my art on it as well as photo & video editing so the more ram the better. Especially since i keep my ipad pro for 7 or more years like i did my 2018 ipad pro. 24gb ram is good for future proofing for the next decade.

Not for me. Works great. Again, those that don’t use an iPad Pro and prefer laptops, will never understand. They are so stuck in their PC mentality that they cannot comprehend how anyone can do serious work on an iPad. Meanwhile professional artists know. They use the iPad Pro to draw on, to edit photos on, to animate on and yes, to edit video on. Trying to convince someone who is stuck in the PC mindset is kind of futile. So I don’t try.

Pre-iPadOS 16, I would agree. But all the M-series have Virtual Memory Swap.

What video editor do you use, and with what peripherals? The vast majority of the iPad Pro positive video editing reviews I've seen still usually say it's a work in progress on the iPad Pro, whereas drawing is a completely different story, with the iPad Pro being king.

SSD isn’t as fast as real RAM though, even though SSD is much faster than HDD. Both SSD and HDD reads/writes data in sequences. It’s just that SSD can be read/write to multiple cells at the same time, as if HDD has 50 read write heads and 50 discs. Apple can’t just keep treating SSD like RAM cause it isn’t
